Account locked after trying to verify phone

Hello. Recently a friend of mine was locked out of their account after adding their phone number to their Discord account. Their attempts to log in are met with a statement that their email or phone number does not exist. They really would like access to their account back, yet they haven't heard from discord support for awhile now. What should be done, or who should they contact, in order to fix this issue?
