Better and More Powerful Audit Logs
Hello.
As Discord has started to catch the eye of more and more companies for their internal communication needs, I believe the need for better, more detailed, more accessible, and more feature-rich audit logs is becoming apparent for some companies.
So far the audit logs are alright for regular/small community servers. However, I feel like there are some improvements needed, so they could become useful to the business and more professional-focused servers or communities.
I am well aware that some of these features might be heavy, so if it's too much to add them for everyone, add them for boosted servers.
Note: I might be adding suggestions that already have their own feedback threads. If so, sorry for that.
1. Add the option of custom exports of the audit log.
I'm sure we're all well aware that a lot of companies tend to do data analysis. If a bigger company that has decent HR departments decides to move to Discord as a communication platform (yes, this is becoming a thing, as Discord is fresh, cool, and "friendly", and some companies really love to try and be fresh and cool for their employees), they would certainly have the need for this.
Discord is (of course) not a platform for data analysis, so the option to export the audit logs to any widely-spread format for data mining would be a great addition (XLS, CSV, etc.).
2. Increase the longevity of the audit logs.
I can't say for certain how long audit logs are being kept, but on my servers I can definitely see that it's a very short-lived period of time. For any company I'm absolutely sure that audit logs being kept longer will be a must. And by longer, I mean longer - 1 year would be a balanced choice for example. If that would not be possible - an option to automatically export monthly audit logs? Or well, of course, just let companies invest into IT to automate all this via the APIs. But why not be better than that?
3. Analytics based on audits (and perhaps other criteria).
I am shamelessly plugging this suggestions as an idea rip-off from Slack. The extensive amount of actions that get monitored in the audit logs allows for the creation of a very powerful analytics tool. Statistics are often important, even more so for big companies who love analyzing that stuff.
Those things would fundamentally be enough in my opinion to accommodate for more work-focused communities.
Why is it good? You give access to very powerful tooling for companies, or anyone who needs them, really.
This should also fit with the idea of helping server administrators and moderators review and/or prevent abuse.
