Spotify Listening Along problem for specific album

Hey guys, so I have a very unusual problem. There is one album that me and my friend like to listen to but we are unable to listen to together. When I invite him to listen I get this message from Clyde: Your message could not be delivered. This is usually because you don't share a server with the recipient or the recipient is only accepting direct messages from friends. I am both a friend of theirs and am on multiple servers with them in it. Another thing it does is when a song from that album comes up, the Spotify status on the discord profile disappears instantly and does not display that the songs are being played. We are both able to listen to the songs without any problems meaning there aren't any regional restrictions that block me or him from listening to any songs. I currently live in Canada and my friend lives in the United States Of America. I am wondering if anyone can confirm or deny whether they can listen along with friends or if it's just a problem with me. I've also asked multiple friends to test it out and used 1 other account and they all have the same issue. I've contacted discord about it but they haven't been helpful as of yet.
