[Prevent Scam/Virus DMs] 2 Suggestions (Role or Server Permissions: Disallow sending URL in DM OR Allow/Disallow sending of DMs to users in server)
Discord is currently a base for Scams and Viruses to be spread easily due to how easy it is to create look-a-like and fake links to be mass (DM) to all users.
2 Suggestions:
FIRST SUGGESTION:
- Disable sending URL in direct message:
- Server or Role Permission Setting:
- Allow user to send URL in Direct Messaging [ Yes / No ]
This solves almost everything
SECOND SUGGESTION:
- ROLE Permissions control of Allowing Direct Messages
- In permissions for role:
- Allow user to send Direct Message in this server [ Yes / No ]
Although we can't control other servers, at least what developers can do is to allow us to control which role can send direct messages within our own server.
Example:
I would allow this for Moderators as they are all 2FA setup accounts.
But for normal members, I will set this option to OFF so that even if a normal member account gets hacked, he won't be able to send (DMs) in my discord.
Of course he could still spam other discord, but that's where each individual discord's management needs to review their trusted roles for allowing (DMs) and which roles are not allowed.
This will greatly deny those scam/virus link spread. However, the first suggestion will deny all DM scam/virus link type which would be better.

Thanks to those who support this suggestion and upvote it.
Even though discord is a free to use platform, I hope discord developers show some sincerity to at least allow us, to take some responsibility to help improve the security on our servers. So thank you once again to those who upvote this post, may you be safe always and stay healthy.

Hi Arvantis Trinity Online YouTube, I totally agree with your suggested features. For now, you can block links via a bot (there are many free options available) and urge your users to disable DMs in your server. While the latter would make blocking raids and scam bots a lot easier, I can also imagine this creating confusion over whether your DMs are open or not. When dealing with users that harass other people over direct messages, you should consider kicking/banning them alltogether...
