Discord demands phone number to log in.

I never submitted my phone number to discord and now i cannot log in to the account, it demands verification via phone number. I dont know what to do, cant change anything in my profile either (enter phone number so i can verify). Support is silent so far.

  I can even see that someone @mentioned me in discord, but cannot pass it because of that stupid verification that never existed for me in first place

  When you are prompted with a phone verification screen it usually means that your account has been flagged for spam or unintended behaviour. I suggest you just verify your account with your phone number and be careful in the future about keeping your login credentials secret. (In the event, you are using client mods: discord detects malicious behaviour and blocks unverified accounts)

  I found out the hard way that sending a private message to a third recipient within the same minute was enough to trigger anti-spam protection, which kicked me to the phone verification page.  With no text-capable phone I've been forced to start a new account.

  My gut tells me that this is less about spam control and more about farming phone numbers.
