Mine and roommate's accounts locked after removing phone number
Hello, I've sent my support ticket already but wish to post this here too:
My roommate and I shared my phone number for accounts. You've received a request from him the other day to unlock his account already as he was flagged for REMOVING my number from his account. At the time, phone verification wasn't sending texts to my number for some strange reason.
Since he was locked out, I gave him permission to use my account to log into another PC in the same house on the same IP. I logged into 2 different devices for him however and that flagged MY account. I was able to have phone verification go through and unlock my account but for only one try. I attempted to REMOVE my phone number upon unlock, which flagged my account AGAIN. I cannot use the phone number to unlock my account for what I assume to be a week now.
THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN every time we simply want to remove a phone number tied to an account. You are FORCING us to register a phone number in order to use our accounts. This flagging system is VERY unsatisfactory, as WE BOTH HAVE TWO-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION ANYWAY.
This forcefulness of needing a phone number when there's NO OTHER WAY is completely deceptive, because while there is an option for it anyway, anyone who uses it ends up punished for it regardless.
PLEASE reinstate both our accounts immediately. Or if there's a way for both of us to have a real-time chat with someone on the support team, that would also be preferable as we can confirm we live in the same residence and that we own our accounts.
I would like to direct you to these feedback posts as well for you to consider:
Forcing personal info, especially if it requires MONEY to maintain like phone numbers, out of people using this predatory algorithm sounds close to a lawsuit, in my opinion.
