Discord Hypesquad Scam Alert
Attention all Discord users! A new scam is making its rounds on the platform, and it involves a message claiming that the Hypesquad Events Program has been officially revived. The message may also contain a link to apply for the program and earn a Golden Hypsquad badge.
However, do not be deceived! The purpose of this scam is to trick users into giving away their account information. Once you click the link and provide your login details, the scammers can use your information for malicious purposes, such as stealing your account or personal data.
To avoid falling for this scam, keep the following in mind:
-
Discord will never ask you for your account credentials when applying for an official program. If a message or link requires you to provide your login details, it's likely a scam.
-
Check the URL of the link. Official Discord links will always start with "discord.com/". If the link in the message does not start with this URL, it's a warning sign that it's not legitimate.
-
Be cautious of any website that prevents you from inspecting elements or right-clicking. Legitimate websites typically allow users to inspect and interact with elements on the page. If you suspect a website may be fraudulent, you can use your browser's developer tools to inspect the network tab. This tab allows you to see all requests and responses made by the website, which can help you identify any suspicious behavior. If you notice any unusual requests or responses, such as attempts to gather personal information or access your account, do not provide any information and exit the website immediately. It's always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to protecting your account and personal data.
-
Verify the authenticity of any messages or announcements by checking the official Discord website or social media accounts.
It's important to remember that the Hypesquad Events Program is still on hold, as confirmed on the official Discord website. Scammers are becoming increasingly creative and persistent, so it's essential to stay vigilant and protect your account information. If you suspect that your account has been compromised, change your password immediately and report the incident to Discord support.
Stay safe and keep your information secure!

To view a page's source code, you can also type in your browser `view-source:<url>` to view its source.

here's an example of the message

Yeah, this one got me and has been using my payment info to charge discord nitro gifts. Support hasn't done anything to help me and i'm becoming increasingly more worried they won't care enough to help me get this fixed.

I just got hit by this. After logging in to their bogus website, I noticed the URL wasn't Discord and immediately added two-factor authentication to my account. I reported the user in the Discord app, but now it's removed their messages from my history so I can't get the info I need to file a real report (support request).

When you did all this on a guest window. I didn't save my acc password on guest when I signed into Discord, so when the scam asked me for my user info I assumed it was the window being weird and asking me to sign in again. Should've looked at the URL~~~ Should've done it on a window that has all my passwords saved so I'd know something was up. Stay safe guys :')
Edit: If you were a victim to this scam, use this link to help get your account back: https://dis.gd/contact
The Discord administrators were super quick (took about two hours to respond, though I may have just gotten lucky), and it took only about three or four hours to get back my account.
I wish you the best of luck!0 -
I was a victim of this yesterday. I thought this was actually the cyber attack that everyone is talking about on social networks called "Pridefall" which consists of targeting and scaring people from LGBTQIA+ communities.
Anyway I managed to get my account back. I found my discord account with a language changed to Portuguese, and a number of servers whose main purpose is the traffic of hacked discord accounts.
I saw on one server that my account was for sale for 90$.
Please be careful, especially during the month of June.0 -
You're def lucky amaretto. Took them 2 weeks to even respond when I got scammed, I was also put in account selling servers that I reported but nothing was done. Be careful guys.
