Server owners should have the right to disable the ability for user profiles to show as "Invisible"

that completely ruins their privacy, do you not care about how they'd feel? yes, some people probably do use it for.. suspicious behavior, but there are some who genuinely find it useful, taking it away from them would be unfair and would definitely anger many, even if its just a server setting

there are so many other good reasons for... sometimes you just want to be left alone and just chat quietly on a server or in private messages instead of being chatted up on 30 different servers... i was last on a server with 4-5000 members moderator and as long as you are online you have no more free time... even for reasons of moderation from the server such as whether the members behave and follow the community rules if no admin or moderator is in the list is shown as online... that people only have evil in their heads while they are invisible is total nonsense...

Funny that you should mention "stalking" as one of your arguments whilst simultaneously advocating for the removal of privacy controls. The ability to appear offline is a privacy function, that you wish to have the power to disable it, is itself a great argument for why it's needed.

"Ghosting/Lurking" is a social issue between you and who ever you think is ghosting you. It's not something discord should get involved in.

"or just generally evading the rules. "

Appearing invisible does not in anyway prevent people from having action taken against them for rule violations. Neither does actually being offline. Accounts can still be banned, muted, kicked etc while appearing invisible.

I'd wager the people who want to get rid of that function are probably more likely to be stalkers.

Either way, server owners should not be able to in any way circumvent built in privacy features of the client. For any reason.
