Making Account Switching Practical (Simultaneous Use, Windows, Notification)
Hey, first off... definitely love the direction things are going by adding account switching. However, in order for it to be practical, there needs to be a lot more functionality.
Instead of completely switching accounts... provide a way to use multiple accounts simultaneously. Switching accounts is great if you're at work from 9 to 5 and are done soon as 5 o'clock hits; but for many, the lines are not that binary.
Multi-tasking
Suppose you're in a voice channel playing a game and you remembered you forgot to tell a co-worker something important. One should be able to use both accounts simultaneously and send that message to their co-worker without having to:
`disconnect, switch accounts, send the message, switch accounts, reconnect`
Notice here that I said "disconnect" and "reconnect"... I said this explicitly because if both of your accounts are in the same server and you switch accounts, Discord (currently) automatically connects to that voice channel with the new account after switching which may be undesirable.
Productivity/Multiple Windows
Similar, but unrelated to account switching: [ Multiple Discord Windows, Splitted chat windows ]
Having the ability to monitor various chats (including DMs) at the same time would be a huge boost to the usability of Discord. This has been a productivity concern for me for some time... adding multiple accounts just increases that need, exponentially - especially when moderating or running large communities.
Notifications
As previous mentioned here: [ Notification while Switching Accounts ]
When multiple accounts are setup, users should have the option to completely enable or disable notifications for each account, individually. Thus giving users the option to remain connected to friends while at work or suspending those distractions until later. When enabled, the sounds and notifications should come through as usual. Likewise, clicking on a notification should jump to the relevant window/notification and switch accounts if necessary.
Tying into the above suggestion, the option to open the conversation mentioned in the notification in a new window would be a nice addition too.
I know this is more than one idea/suggestion, but hopefully it's allowed and will incite meaningful conversation.
