2fa needs to be fixed

Google's authy app is EXTREMELY glitchy. Ive been locked out of my account for a few months now due to this. I originally had my codes saved to my laptop, but my laptop died like for good. Ive been fighting them on this. I have had to use authy apps to prove my true identity for servers. I have spent so much times with the servers i have and they cant even transfer my own information like i have years of friends on there. I get thwres phone numbers but not everyone feels comfortable with sharing those. My server admins literally have me on other apps and could verify its literally me bc ive called them multiple times on discord face cams and snapchat video calls they know who i am. This literally was such a big part of my life. How i talked to any of my gaming buds when i couldny pay my subs or i couldnt game bc i was busy. This was also a storage apace for me. So i lost years of data on a private server. Discord you need to do better

    Bro I JUST lost my acc too. I forgot my password and lost my 2FA. It said that SMS can be a backup if you lose your 2FA and backup codes. BUT APPARENTLY IT DOES NOT APPLY TO RESETTING YOUR PASSWORD. I spent DAYS back and forth between discord support, my phone company, and fricken Google to get my account back. NO DICE. Discord do BETTER. I have found threads that date back 2 YEARS ago with people crying about the same problem. The support guy I spoke to sent me here to give my feedback that they oh so pay attention to 100%. Not. If they payed attention this issue would have been resolved YEARS AGO. Some people have business connections, friends they can't connect anywhere else with, servers to moderate, old conversations to scroll through, important information, commissioners, clients, friend groups. We aren't just losing simple accounts, we're losing our memories, our good times, our past, important information, OUR CONNECTIONS. I KNOW discord does not care, and no one will see this. And I am so so so sorry you're going through the same thing. I'm so freaking sorry. I'm so angry on your behalf and all those hundreds if not thousands of people who lost their accounts because discord decided you can't reset your password unless you have 2FA and backup codes which THEY DONT even tell you about how important it is. They also decided having an SMS for a backup won't count if you're resetting your password. WHATS THE POINT THEN DISCORD?? This is such an easy fix. Let us use our actual phone number in place of an authy or backup. You are a billion dollar company. The fact that literally every other website with 2fa has a way to recover an account if it's lost and you STILL DONT. DOES NOT LOOK GOOD. DO BETTER DISCORD. THIS IS NOT GOOD. DO BETTER. Where on earth is all that money going towards? DO. BETTER. I wish I could post my own thread but omfg. I'm so upset for you man. I'm so sorry. Until discord does a recovery for this, everything is lost. I'm so sorry.
