Server owner is banned and Discord Support won't transfer ownership!
We have a server with over 4,000 members. The server owner has had their account permanently banned for reasons outside of our server, reasons I do not know about nor care about. I've reached out to Discord Support and they refused to complete the transfer request.
Their response:
Hello there,
Sadly, we found that the server does not meet the criteria and we won't be able to transfer ownership for you. We generally do not interfere with individual server management, and we can currently only assist with server ownership transfers if your server meets the criteria.
As a reminder, the criteria for transfer is:
- Your server has 100 members.
- The current server owner hasn't accessed their account for at least a month.
- You (the requestor) have been active on your account in the last 30 days.
- You (the requestor) have administrator or moderator permissions within the server's settings.
Please note: If the previous server owner’s account was disabled, the transfer may be denied. Additionally, we cannot transfer ownership if you’re asking on behalf of another user or if the current owner denied the transfer.
At this time, the best bet would be to recreate a new server, and create and share an invite link by posting the link within the old server, so that everyone active in the old server can use that link to join the new server.
I apologize once again for all the hassle and inconvenience, but please let me know if you have any other questions.
- Your server has 100 members.
We have over 4,000.
- The current server owner hasn't accessed their account for at least a month.
They're permanently banned, this is irrelevant.
- You (the requestor) have been active on your account in the last 30 days.
I'm active every day.
- You (the requestor) have administrator or moderator permissions within the server's settings.
I've had administrator and moderator privileges for years.
This needs to be fixed. What else are we supposed to do? Creating a new server is unrealistic and ridiculous. Discord Support should be able to see with the information I provided upon their request that the server owner is permanently banned and transfer ownership on their end. Why are they digging their heels into the ground and being difficult about this? I don't understand.

Has it been 30 days since the ban? If not, then it's not meeting the criteria.
If yes, reach out to Discord again and im sure they'll help ya out.

Helping doesn't notice anything here and 30 days what the hell takes so long! I've been waiting 6 days with the answer and I'm supposed to be activated again, which hasn't been the case until today!

Sorry to hear this. But this seems to be the criteria for discord to be able to transfer the ownership of the server.

Not sure who that person is or what they're talking about. I don't know when the server owner was banned. I haven't heard from them in two weeks. It could be anywhere between 14 days onward. But if that's the case, why can't Discord Support just tell me that? Like, "Hey, sorry but until 30 days has passed since your server owner has been banned, we can't transfer ownership. Please try again after [enter date here]."
Is that so hard? Especially with them saying "Please note: If the previous server owner’s account was disabled, the transfer may be denied."
So what the hell do I do then? Literally zero guidance, just stonewalling.

You can ask for more guidance, the message end says "I apologize once again for all the hassle and inconvenience, but please let me know if you have any other questions."

I have. No response. I've asked twice and both times they marked the ticket 'Resolved' without responding.

Because they know your request doesn't meet with the criteria.

same issue applied to us, we have 3,000 members
now thet just "resolve" the tickets without even replying, this is pathetic support and a great way to kill future customers
