I have also been having the same issue, over the past few months XBL status was unreliable but showed eventually, however for a couple of weeks now it's simply refused to show.
I contacted Discord support around a week ago and was told they are aware of the issue but could not provide an ETA on a fix.
So I imagine this feature will remain broken for a long time yet.

Many of ppl troubling this issue. Discord also know this issue long time.
Maybe It's not important to discord staffs.

Hey everyone, this is what Discord Support told me about this issue. I think it clarifies that this is a known bug and will be fixed sometime in the future, but at the moment no one knows when.
"I'm sorry to hear that Discord isn't showing your Xbox playing status. Just to give you a heads up, this issue with Disord not displaying the Xbox playing status is currently a known issue that is on our team's radar. I want to reassure you that our team is on the case and working on a fix, however, I sadly don't have an ETA for when a solution will be available."
So there we are. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

If this helps at all, this broke for me after I used custom status. My Xbox status was showing up just fine for months until the first time I used the custom status and now my Xbox status will never show, even after unlinking and linking my account.

It was working fine for my yesterday, perfectly in fact, it would update my status within a minute or two of switching game which I was very happy about.
Unfortunately it's now stuck and has been showing me as playing stardew valley for 8hrs despite my Xbox not being on for 7. Turning off display Xbox live as status doesn't help :(

It happened to me as well but I think that's problem on Discord's side. When i exited Discord and started it again "Now Playing" status was gone.

dont know if this helps but try this:
on your xbox, go to settings-social media link or whatever it says and unlink your discord and xbox account. next, go to the discord website or desktop or mobile app and unlink it from there too because it wont show up right away after you unlink from the xbox. then, go back to the xbox and link it from there. this worked for me, so it's worth a shot.

so apparently, this bug was fixed like a day or two ago, but i'm still having issues with it displaying the xbox live status. i've tried nearly everything, anyone willing to offer me some help? :(

Sorry Monica I'm not sure what to suggest. If you wait a little while after turning show Xbox live as my status on and aren't appearing offline on either discord or Xbox it should work :(
Came here to say it's been working great for me the last few days, updates quickly and doesn't hang around for hours after turning my Xbox off, good job disc team 👍

It's still not working for me. It's gotten so bad that I don't even bother using discord anymore now that I've convinced my friends to use the XBOX app on PC. I highly recommend others with this same issue to do the same so discord is forced to fix this

It was working for a while, but since the last update (a few days ago) it's been broken again. It doesn't work, simply doesn't display anything as my current status. It was working properly just the day before! This is so annoying, Discord team breaking it with their constant updates.

Can confirm, it was working for about a week perfectly, after months of not working, then update, now nothing at all again. This is absolutely ridiculous now. Can you please make this a priority, discord? This has been happening on and off for over a year now. Enough is enough. It's been broken more than it's been working.

Mine hasn't worked for a month or two now.
Tried pretty much everything everyone else has and no success. My other statuses seem to work, Spotify etc.

Okay so literally a few days after I posted here praising disc devs for not only fixing xbl statuses but also making it work better than it had in the past, it completely broke again. This has been the case for a little over 3 weeks now.
I'll be honest it's very frustrating, months of it being broken only for them to be momentarily fixed before becoming broken again.
Will we ever have a properly working xbl/discord connection :(

I'm having the same issue and have tried to play around with my privacy settings on discord and xbox and nothing seems to work. I have noticed that it works with PC gamepass games though but nothing on the console.

It seems to have broken yet again! Not entirely but it's back to hanging around for hours after you close the game and not updating when you switch games, at least for me anyway >:c
I wonder what the next record will be, fixed to broken in 12 hours? 🤔
