Discord won’t show my Xbox live status

On mobile the game status goes on and off. I found that if you keep your web browser up and logged into discord, it makes it appear again. So if you see your status not showing on the mobile app, open up discord on your web browser with the mobile app running in the background. You'll see the status is actually showing on the browser discord. Then move back over to the mobile app and it should pop back up.

User victoriarepo further up in this thread said that this functionality is apparently meant to work with PC Game Pass games also? Can anyone else confirm that this works for them? I've never seen a PC Game Pass game pop up as my status.

@dasnap my game pass games show on my pc, sometimes I have to manually add the games to my game activity on discord

Aaaand it's broken again. It lasted longer than I thought it would this time though; a month, wooo. Props for that, I guess.

yo so i was having this problem but i figured out how to fix it. so all i do is plug my phone charger in my xbox and connect my phone to it and then refresh discord and it’ll usually fix the problem. it doesn’t usually show up right away though, you need to give it a few minutes. hope this helps :)

i tried connecting my phone via the charger to the usb port and opened up discord and reloaded. still doesn't show my status so im not sure if i've done something wrong

It works for some people on Discord, doesn't work for most. It's not working for me again. I think this feature cannot be saved, it's just a mess and too unpredictable. We have to accept it just doesn't work, whether the problem is on Microsoft's end or Discord's, the people in charge just don't care anymore. I ended up disconnecting my accounts and I don't care anymore either. It's a shame really, a useful feature so abandoned.

I personally still care. As leadership of a large multi platform gaming community, it helps to see who's actually playing and contributing when it comes to considering people for promotions. This is a feature that used to work perfectly, without issue. I'm confident if discord actually made this a priority, they would be able to rectify this problem. However, If we're all just content with it being broken, it will never be fixed. We should never just accept broken features as broken. It sets a bad precedent. This is something xbox nitro users especially, should take into consideration, as you're paying for a partially broken product.

The status works for me 75% of the time. However it takes up to 1 hrs to update the status. So if I start up a game it will update anywhere from 20-60 mins if I’m lucky. Same with closing. All other times it can take over 1.5 hrs or just don’t work at all.

I'm not sure the problem isn't on Microsoft's end. The Discord app hasn't been updated in the last few days, yet while this feature worked for me just a few days ago (and it updated almost instantly when I started an Xbox game) now it doesn't. It very well might be that Microsoft is tinkering with Xbox Live behind the scenes, especially now that the new generation consoles are upon us. And it might be them who regularly break it. Maybe Xbox Live just doesn't send the necessary information to Discord servers. This feature keeps popping in and out, and it's just completely unpredictable. The biggest problem is that neither party has a proper, direct feedback channel where we could indicate this issue.

For those who tried everything and didn't work.
please go to your Xbox privacy settings on the Xbox itself.
Settings > Privacy&Online Safety > Xbox Live Privacy
and switch to Adult.

It's now working for me. Tried everything through the thread, nothing, until trying this and pretty much immediately popped up. Had a feeling it may have been something along the Microsoft side. Sorry for all the hate Discord :(1 -

I’m also having this problem but my friend has no problems with his xbox status... is it a simple account setting on Xbox maybe?

Go into settings, then find "Linked social accounts" then follow the steps for discord thats how i fixed mine

This is absolutely ridiculous reading through this thread... I get that devs have balancing priorities, but the fact that this has been broken for months (years?) is pretty disgusting.

This has been broken for me for months as well. I've unlinked and relinked my xbox account to Discord in so many ways, so many times, and reinstalled the application. It just doesn't work. What's odd is it broke at random aftre a Discord update and none of my xbox or Discord permissions changed in any way.
Really wish they'd fix this as it's a very useful feature for prompting discussion and such in servers. But given the number of months this has been ongoing, and the number of comments here, I'm worried it'll simply never be resolved.0 -
This feature is a very important to my server. It helps leadership keep track of who's actually contributing in our game. I'm so fed up with how many times this breaks. It's beyond ridiculous now, and I refuse to support discord with buying nitro until this gets fixed, Permanently.

Not working for me either, worked once or twice for the past couple of months (almost a year now).
I feel like its something on Xbox's end, since usually they try new things (most of the time causing bugs), but I'm not sure. It's pretty frustrating though :(
They've fixed it before, why can't they fix it once and for all, I don't understand why it's so difficult?0 -
I think I found the problem. When I used to have Xbox Live Gold, my friends used to see my Xbox Live Status. But they don't now. I think it requires Xbox Live Gold.

I wish I had a solution but I'ma having the same issue as well. Very annoying and frustrating. Discord won't show when I'm playing PC games also. But it always recognizes the PC game if I want to stream it. It doesn't make sense.
