Features for organizing the DM user list
A problem I've seen many face on Discord, especially highly integrated users, is that the DM user list can quickly get stuffed with a plethora of users. This issue creates a number of other issues.
- DMs get challenging to navigate
- People you want to keep in touch with (i.e. staff, old friends, etc) can get lost in the list
- It gets harder to differentiate between certain users' inquiries
- There's an increased chance you may forget to reply to someone if you've already read their messages
I think most users can relate to these issues, and in this post, I will propose a number of features that I can think can help with these issues.
1. Favorites tab
The favorites tab would involve a feature where you can add users to a "Favorites tab" where you can add users you interact with daily.
2. User category folders
In the same way you can organize servers into different categories, I do think a similar feature for the DM user list would be helpful. This feature would entail dragging users into separate categories (depending on the inquiry). It would allow you to differentiate the inquiries and users and make it easier for you to navigate the users.
3. "Answer later" list for people you haven't yet responded to
This feature would allow you to assign people you haven't responded to. For example, if someone messages you, there should be an option where you can put the user into the "Answer later" list. This makes it a lot easier to remember which people you haven't responded to.
These features I think would enhance the utility of the Discord platform. Additionally, these features could allow further customizability to the platform. Where you can have features like automatically adding users to a specific list under specific conditions. Like sorting users from a specific server into a specific user list (if that makes sense). You could also have features for default category sorting, and so on.
Unpopular opinion probably, but... this could also give Discord users more reasons to buy Nitro. I get it. Many users have discredited Discord for adding features specifically for Nitro subscribers before. But Discord needs to find ways to earn money as well. While I think not all features I proposed should be Nitro-required, I do believe that certain customizability features could be Nitro-required, which would give people more reason to buy Nitro.
I hope you liked my suggestion. If you have any feedback or any other ideas, I'd love to hear them. Have a good one!

I think the "answer later" tab is a bit unnecessary, since you can just "mark as unread" any messages you read but still need to respond to.
But I really like the favorites tab suggestion. On iMessage, you can pin text message convos with certain people/groups. And I can see this being a great feature to translate onto Discord.

Thank you for the input!
Yes, I do think you have a point with the answer later tab. It's just that the "mark as unread" feature isn't as noticeable and personally, I often forget to use it when I need to use it. But I definitely understand what you mean.
Thanks for the response!

I appreciate your thoughts.
I get your point about the "answer later" button. The issue is that the "mark as unread" option is less obvious, and I frequently forget to utilize it even when I need to. Still, I get what you're trying to say.
I appreciate your quick reply.
