Why is discord sending every other image as a downloadable file

When I copy/paste an image or upload via the " + " icon it sends the image as a downloadable file, so the server can only see "filename.jpg" and then a download button and no visible embed. 1/5 times, it does send the actual image, like it should.

    Yeah, this is absolutely ridiculous. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon. Stay hopeful peeps!

    this is strange? i tried to find some info about this, yet theres nothing, not surprising but its more or less concerning😨😨i hope discord can fix this soon, because i even told my friend to send me a picture - same thing happened to her!! 😱😱

    I was able to fix it when I went settings > text & images > toggled "when uploaded directly to Discord" on and off

    I HAVE AN ANSWER! I tried things and Discord can't send JFIF files as photos but it can send PNG or JPG files as photos. However you can change the name and it works. Hopes this helps!

    To fix this go into settings<text and images<Turn on when uploaded directly to discord. and all links should turn to images directly. Hope you can fix this reply to me if this doesn't work. Also I dont work at discord.. (obviously)

    I found u need make sure the file ur sending Is in a proper save format to be sent as an image and not a downloadable I had to resave an image from google as a Jpeg for it to work jfif is compressed jpegs.

    the fix is to go to settings, go to text and images and enable "when uploaded directly to discord" and it should fix it
