Video Party Stream
Imagine all users in a discord channel can watch the same Youtube Videos at the same time? There are bots which can find videos and just stream the audio but if we can stream the video it would make things a little bit interesting. This feature can be developed even further if we can stream licensed "Movies" from Netflix for example. It's like sitting in a Cinema but it's just discord!

Would screensharing not work for this? As there is already screensharing in VC's on some servers.

Screen sharing is something and discord streaming a video is something. This has potential especially if Discord starts streaming movies. Imagine Discord making a deal with Netflix for instance.

I would love to be able to have a bot stream a video to the voice channel like they can audio already since on my one server we do try not to _____ challenges and it would be amazing if we didnt have to call out when we had an ad or what time code everyone is at

Well sucks to be you guys. Cos Discord has a new feature called, “GO LIVE” and can almost screen share anything, watch your friends playing the game, or even Netflix, so you can enjoy watching together while chatting. :P losers who only knows discord is just for games. Not sure, I think streaming movies is pretty much the same as watching a movie with my friends at home. I think aslong as no one is recording the session you arn't violating any Netflix or Discord terms of service.

Bruh, I need this feature and if I have to spend years making it myself, I will ;-; IT NEEDS TO HAPPEN discord is a place to get together with people and socialise in communities and we deserve this, little old clyde could do it
we already have that view in servers, so its a perfect opportunity, even if we just take vids from YT and not Netflix2 -
I think this would be a great way to share/stream movies or anime through a PLEX server through a Google Chrome window via the screen share option. I'll have to test it with friends to see if it works. I'm not sure about the game activity settings though. How is that different then the Screen Share setting in a voice channel? I'll test it and report back.

Streaming Netflix through Discord would likely be illegal, yes. Maybe not though? We can have people over to our homes and stream, but a lot of it is a gray area. Movie companies also want you to license a movie for a gathering of more than eight people, so I've heard. I'm thinking back to school's and movie nights, knowing the PTA would host and have to license the movie...
Netflix and other such companies may not have it written into their ToS because it wasn't something they thought of "back then", but if you don't want to risk your account you would be far better off asking or just not doing it. Personally, I'd recommend against streaming Netflix or any other pay service through Discord. Sure you can create another account with another email, name, etc. but even pay services like this are ultimately a privilege. I don't want to see them locked down because a few of us make a bad choice and try to circumvent the system.
Watch party plug-ins for Chrome exist, but rely on people having their own accounts. If you want to do a watch party through Discord, find a bot or write one - and if you find something, let me know please? I'm looking for options that expand beyond Netflix for a (now) online convention.

Streaming music will likely be the same thing. People are streaming music while they draw or do other things on Twitch, and their audio is being muted because they're using copyrighted material.

I think that's a great idea! Okay listen, I know screensharing is already a thing but,What if the person streaming is way too laggy? Wouldn't it be way easier to just have a bot do it instead?

to be honest this would just cause loads of issues with bots streaming illegal videos like movies. but with cons there are pros and i think that maybe some verified bots could do it. i don't really see the point in adding this though. maybe you could upload a video to the bots website and it streams it in a voice channel, but that would cause some people to upload pirated content anyway. if you're trying to stream youtube, why? can't you just go to youtube.com and watch it. it would be higher quality anyway.
