Anonymization of deleted accounts is insufficient. A lot of personally-identifiable information stays behind.
Discord offers the function to easily delete your account. But what it does is insufficient and not taking proper care of the user data. All messages stay after account deletion, and the supposed deleted account still holds a lot of identifiable information such as:
• Specific color default Discord profile picture.
• Likely unique sequence of letters and numbers in the deleted account's username (If it had been deleted while maintaining its four-digit tag).
• Date and year of account creation.
• UNIQUE USER ID THAT CAN PROVE BEYOND A SHADOW OF A DOUBT THAT TWO MESSAGES WERE SENT BY THE SAME NOW DELETED ACCOUNT
All of this, coupled with the remaining by a deleted account messages, can easily paint the whole picture of who a deleted account belonged to. There are many valid reasons why one may not be able to get rid of their messages beforehand which I will not get into in this post but I have already explained thoroughly in a different post that I strongly recommend you check out: https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/19632542555927-All-messages-of-deleted-accounts-must-be-deleted-as-well-in-depth-feedback-
It is the belief of me and many others that the messages of deleted accounts should be erased as well. At the very least, the aforementioned personally-identifiable information that deleted accounts contain, such as specific color profile picture, likely unique username, date and year of account creation, and most importantly, unique user ID, should be fully erased along with the account. That includes previously deleted Discord profiles. The vast majority of people, as I have showed in the post linked above, are in favor of ALL messages of deleted accounts to be gone as well. All messages and any other lingering information of deleted accounts should be erased.
