All messages of deleted accounts must be deleted as well – in-depth feedback

All messages of deleted accounts should be deleted, whether they are in a server, a group chat or in direct messages. This is crucial to be done as otherwise the privacy and safety of users is threatened. This is especially the case for children, who tend to overshare. Any remaining messages can also be used as a blackmail. When one uses Discord, they are bound to reveal personally-identifiable information about themselves in the form of text, audio and media that they may not wish to still exist once their account is deactivated. First of all, some users may be left under the impression that messages get deleted once your accounts gets deleted, and once the account is gone there's nothing that can be done about that. A user may also simply forget to delete their messages containing personal information. Even if none of the above apply, deleting messages can be a hassle, and may not be an option if someone wants to get rid of their account as soon as possible. That's especially the case if one closes the DMs with someone who they are no longer friends with or no longer share a server with, for which you will need to request all of your data that can take a long time. In some cases, people have no control over wheter their messages get deleted or not, like in servers that they have been kicked or banned from, or group chats they have been kicked from. At some point there will be a large number of messages from deleted accounts that are of little to no use to anyone and are only a waste of storage. Both deleting messages as soon as an account is deleted or putting a retention period which will result in the messages getting deleted at some point are viable options.
