2 year old feature request, still hasn't been done. I wish paying for Discord actually made some difference. I get questions as to what I'm doing with Synergy or what it is because Discord will not stop displaying it.

Huge bump this would be great and seems relatively simple to input.

Why did they implement the threads "feature" that noone really wanted, the "schools" feature noone wanted, but this and moving comments are still nowhere to be found?

I canceled my Nitro because of this.

3 years ago. Still not implemented .'( ...
I really want it because of Bluestacks, since i use is for some private apps

I hate that I have to avoid the steam version of ShareX because of this. Otherwise it would say I'm always "playing" it.

also other thing that they need to do is allow us to allocate certain games instead of what they claim it to be EG: Ascension: Classless WOW shows up as Steam's Ascension: Deck building game (even though i don't own this)

Bumping. I have an idle clicker game I like having minimized for me to check on occasionally, but since it's verified it always shows up. I'd rather be able to show some of my unverified applications instead, especially since as a voice actor I'd rather my project managers see me on Adobe Audition rather than some game, which makes me look unprofessional. And I don't want to completely turn off the activity status, not only because I do indeed want to show I'm using Adobe Audition but also because I'll forget to turn it back on when I'm playing games that have a bot in their discord community that might randomly give you a code for exclusive in-game loot, if you have both Discord Rich Presence turned on in that game, along with having your Activity Status on in Discord.

+1, I don't want discord saying that I am "playing" a utility application.

So what's up still, why is it so hard to add this feature?

    First question: when?

Second question: Why not from the start?

    Workaround: Rename your .exe's

    e.g. "Aesprite.exe" --> "NotAesprite.exe" does not trigger Discord's Game Activity.

(I have not read this entire thread, but it seems like it's not been mentioned.)

@Mallard I can’t recall if it’s been discussed here or not, but it has been elsewhere for sure. While it can work, it’s not a feasible solution given that it can cause linkage breaking. It will also be undone if an application update renames the exe back to its original name.

such simple inclusion of feature and yet discord does nothing. just like how they sideline classic nitro users that pay and get nothing

Now Borderless Gaming is showing. Synergy and Borderless Gaming

There was at time when we had full control over this feature.  We could turn off specific games, or even rename the "verified" games.  They took that control away from us.  From what I've been told by a friend who works there, it is for advertising purposes.  Since this feature was at one point implemented, it would be simple to "add" it back.

That’s why I just disabled it entirely. I’d like to use it, but as long as I can’t have that control, then I’d rather just not use it.

I knew that I wasn't crazy! I noticed that the League of Legends client was identified as a game and displayed in my activity, but thought it wasn't a big deal since I could just disable that in the settings and Discord will instead display it when I launch the actual game. Nope. That setting is gone. Apparently I've been hiding under a rock for at least 3 years.

How is this good for advertising purposes though? Do game publishers pay Discord to be seen in the activity feed of users? If that's the case, isn't it worse to force users to disable it completely? If I disable the activity status just to hide a select few applications/games and then, in all likelihood, forget (or just don't bother) to turn it back on for the rest of my applications/games... then that's pretty damn bad for them isn't it? If their clients pay to be seen. How is that even measured?

Sounds so much like a "suit and tie"-decision, rather than someone who actually knows anything about how Discord is actually used and what is valued by the users.

    > How is this good for advertising purposes though?

Did you notice that before when you disabled the feature it would stop tracking, but now when you disable it will still track and report everything, just not post it as a custom status? They're tracking and monetising all the processes you run and monitoring your activity. It basically became a glorified spying tool in its own right.

I'm kind of hell bent in hacking the client and disrupting their ability to do so, it became very clear over the years that it's a very intentional move and they won't back down. They didn't address this when it was the 2nd or 3rd most requested feature, they sure as hell won't now.

Maybe that is what bring them $$$ but it's still shows that devs don't want to explore suitable options.
There is simple solution to this: Toggle, similar to overlay, which will determine whatever game will be or will be not shown in status.

First there will be 'Local Toggle' for each game in Activity list, all games listed will have one. That Toggle will decide if  game's name will be shown in status

Second 'Global Toggle' which will decide if 'Local Toggle' for newly added game will be in On\Off position by default.

Verified games still can get into the list without asking user, to save Discord their $$$. But atleast user will decide activity status.

Necroing this up. Still need this feature alot! I keep having certain game clients open and its showing wrong games then when im not playing them.

Absolutely this. It feels like such an essential feature that I took for granted I could choose what to show and what not, before finding out I can't.

This is very broken. I have a Quake 3 dedicate server running 24/7, and why i cant have this specific instance of process just marked as "disabled" somehow? Is this that hard to do, like, seriously?

Please fix this debilitating issue by adding a very simple feature. There are countless reasons why a user would want to choose which of their running programs to display as active - or none at all - and a platform as advanced as Discord has no excuse to be continually lacking this functionality.
