With Android 9 and the new and spreading navigation gesture, some common functions of many apps can be affected by some implementations of the gestures.
In my case, I have a Huawei phone, and the "back" gesture is pulling from the border of the screen towards the center, which also happens to be a very common gesture in many apps including discord to reveal the side menus (server list / member list).
I know not all phones have this specific conflict, but I still think it would be a nice improvement to increase a bit the area in which you can pull from the side of the screen : instead of having to pull from the very border, you should be able to pull anywhere within 5-10 % of the screen's width from the border of each side.
It would cancel the conflicts with Huawei's (and probably some other manufacturer's) "back" gesture, and in general make it easier to reach for phones with wide screens and/or curved edges (Mate 20X, Galaxy Note...). As phones get taller, I assume fewer people will want to reach for the top corner buttons and rely on the swipe functions to see these menus, so a lot of people would benefit from this.
