It would let you use Music Bots while you call one another! It would be perfect for D&D or other Table Top Games.

I never use the live streaming feature and of they cut this vital and useful communication line to chase the pipe dream of live streams then they have truly missed out.

It works, except now if you double click on someone who is sharing their screen or app, it will show it full screen.   If you double click to go back to the multi screen, it does not go back.  So it's acting like the go live feature, which is not ideal.  The main purpose of this mult-stream feature is so that you can see everyone's stream or webcam at the same time.  This worked perfectly before the changes started.

We we playing jackbox the other night, and one person was streaming the game, and we couldn't flip between everyone's webcam and the game very easily.  Would be rad if you could tear off one streamers view, and stick it on one monitor and have everyone else split screen webcam or stream, up on the other monitor.

It looks like they started to replace some functionallity from Screenshare with Go live. And of course they used those parts that already caused troubles before. I sometimes wonder if Discord is trying to get rid of people. I still do not get why they make a working feature just to replace it with a broken one.

Even if there is a way for creating a video call into a voice channel in a server, it is a possibility only avaiable for PC. It would be awesome if also moblie/apple users could enjoy this; or, at least, to extend the max number of partecipants in a voice call.

It looks like they're updating this, but I haven't gotten any release notes on what they're doing with this.  Effectively it doesn't work.  Right now if you use the custom link and share your screen, you can only view your screen, you can not view anyone else that is sharing their screen or webcam.  Also if you are just watching others that are "live" in the channel, and you double click on someones screen or app share, you will be stuck in that screen and can't get back without going back to that link.

This used to work great before they started messing with it.

I would still like some feedback from discord and what their plans are with this almost amazing potential for screen and webcam share.  I don't want to hear about how there are probably bandwidth limitations.  They've increased viewers from 10 - 50, but it's actually useless, because you can't share and watch at the same time.   I say keep the limits low, and allow everyone to share and watch.  At least we'll feel like we're in the same room again, like before the world ended.

If you want 50 viewers, just throw up a twitch stream and have that one way conversation with your audience.

This is something different, and has great potential.  So even if there are technical limitations, it's worth being solved.

I just want some feedback from Discord, all I've gotten so far is sorry for the inconvenience.

+1 this would be killer. My team went back to Skype!

Yea, we all moved over to Zoom since it has all the same channels structure as Discord AND has video conferencing, so meets all the needs. Just a bit more annoying as not all my communities are going to the same solution, others are fleeing to Skype and others.

If nothing else @Discord make it a paid feature for boosted servers. That'd be totally reasonable. (also, would be nice to just have the boost feature laid out in plain terms so we knew how much to pay for each level of the server)

The biggest thing for me with this is taking advantage of things like higher bit rate audio quality for voice channels on boosted servers. I think obviously, servers function as just better group DMs for a lot of people, but having the better audio with video conferencing would be a dream come true for me.

+1 i suggested my mom should use it for work instead of zoom, and i didn't know that the video group chat could only hold 10ppl. So she, having a team of 15 people working was pretty shamed that she just spent 30 minutes of her team for installing discord and they switched back to zoom. Now i create a dev link as people suggested in the posts above, but guess what now the screen sharing feature is unavailable. Discord devs, if you are reading this, bringing back the feature of video calling on servers + the screenshare, in which you are very good at, compared to other video-calling companies, you could make your app go on corporate levels, thus greatly increasing your margin. Hope i could create a spark of interest, and hope you will add those essential features, especially in the times of the pandemic, when people need it the most!

Oh Cmon! Discord especially at a time like this discord should really be worried about bringing people onto their platform, and not letting them leave to some other just for server-video calls. Honestly, that is the only feature that discord is missing right now, that is stopping it from being the most OP software there is.

Dissapointed discord user. I am still gonna use it, but I would really like to be able to make discord my goto for everything. Now I have to bounce back and forth between skype and discord. Once you get used to it, skype is actually pretty good.

    Adding my +1

I'm an on and off nitro subber, whenever I can afford to pitch in. I love discord. Please make this happen, as this would make it so much better for staying in touch with loved ones right now.

I can't stand skype. Zoom is a nightmare of security breaches. Discord, you guys are awesome and I know you're probably already working on it. But just wanted to add my vote to the pile.

Ill post this again, because I keep seeing new posts about how it doesnt work, I tried it 2 days ago and it still works for me, you need to be in developer mode to get both the server and the channel ID and put them both into the link, heres a reddit video on how to do it https://www.reddit.com/r/discordapp/comments/aobz9x/screen_sharingvid_calls_in_servers/

@cannibal it does work, but not like it used too. In version 56xxx it would allow you to share your screen or app, and others could focus on your screen by double clicking, and then double click to go back to the multi screen. Now, you get stuck in focusing on just that one screen. Also if you are sharing your screen, you can not see any other screens or webcams. It's just like the go live button now.

So it's effectively a useless thing, unless you are doing webcam stuff.

Hmmm, woulda been nice if they said something before they broke it and didn't answer anyone's questions.

I'm glad we can finally get this feature. Still wish they left the workaround in place until they finished this.  It worked perfectly.

Actually, I'm extremely skeptical that this is going to do anything we want.  This part here says it's not going to work.

    Note:
    - Multiple people can stream their screen and Go Live at the same time on the video call.
    - However, you can only watch ONE screen share at a time! As you watch one screen share stream, all other screen share streams will stop moving!

What's the point of sharing your screen and not being able to see anyone else's screen or video?  That's what Twitch is for.  Discord has always been about 2-way group communication.  If you can not share your screen and view others at the same time, I'm considering this still broken.

My server is doing exactly what I needed now. I get the complaint regarding sharing your screen and still seeing video, but I explicitly needed this for video-based stuff so, I'm all good now!

This is working great in the desktop version of discord now. Hope it comes to the mobile app soon as well
