Fix Phone Verification
My account asks me to verify by phone nearly every other day. I have two factor authentication enabled. I connect from the same devices. Nobody else has logged into the account. I have not used a new device. Regardless, I continue to be asked to do the same phone verification over and over. Today, the verification told me "This phone number was recently used on a different account." The phone was definitely not used for a different account since I last verified. The only thing I can think of is that Discord flagged the phone to not be used after I used it two days ago, and the time length still hasn't expired, so now I have to use a different phone to verify the same account.
Discord needs to fix this phone verification system immediately, otherwise those of us that use Discord on a regular basis will need to switch platforms to ensure that we aren't disrupted during an event. I personally use discord to communicate with a guild. Many people I play with regularly make new accounts to get arround these verification problems. If I cant find a proper resolution I will be creating a Matrix server to provide all of us with an alternative platform that doesn't constantly have problems. Currently, I would need to purchase a new phone number to get my account verified, and the cost of doing so would be more money than paying for a Matrix server. So, from my perspective it is more affordable to leave Discord. The only reason I would not leave discord is to save other people the hassle of switching platforms.
I have opened, and will continue to open support tickets. So far, the support has been unhelpful in resolving this issue, and I expect that they will continue to be unhelpful. It is likely that support does not have the resources to correctly fix the verification problems, because they are problems in the way the platform is programmed, not problems that can be fixed with the type of tools available to support staff.
Hopefully other people can post to say that they have had similar problems. I've personally communicated with many. I might see if I can rally up a bunch of people to make this really apparent that it's a real issue and not just a random complaint. I understand that discord wants to get phone numbers to tie to the data they gather on their users, and I also understand that they want to keep spam and hacking minimized, but it is working against their own interests to lock out legitimate users from accounts, especially when users like myself have 2FA enabled and working.

I forgot my password for one acct and now when i try to set up the 2nd one, it doesnt even say anything after i put my # in to verify. They dont even tell me if its registered to another acct or not

a few days ago i got the same problem where it wants me to verify my phone verification but i do not have a phone number, i recommend if Discord can try to change it to gmail and password verification instead, that i can do. i want to be able to see my friends again back on Discord, i miss em very much and i am sure they miss me too, please remove phone verification and replace it with gmail and password verification so i can once again get back onto Discord and reunite with my best friends and continue building my server

Same,But I have a phone number and I have put in my phone number but I am not receiving any verification code,And Unfortunately Discord is ignoring us all,I have also left a comment here and also emailed discord and they are still not changing it to gmail verification or password verification

After 1 or 2 months I finally received my verification code,now got so many DMs and many people has left my server,thanks so much Discord

Just take legal actions against their support system... Support staff must lose their jobs since they don't actually do shit, and be replaced with new, qualified people who can actually HELP people out, and tell developers to fix certain issues like this one.

Discord is aggy atm, and i use dicord every single day. I play with friends on there and i was in the middle of playing with them and discorddiscord, out of the blue, said : Sorey, but we've detected unusual activity on your accout. This is really frustrating and annoying. Thanks discord for interrupting me playjng games with my friends. VERY much appreciated...

I have been using discord for a long time now I have made 2 accounts Both need phone verification but I already verified my gmail that should be enough but then this happened so I have to wait until I get a phone number this is the most stupidest thing I’ve ever seen like discord some people don’t have phones

Literally the dumbest thing ever. Why can't I just use my phone number to verify my discord account more than just once a day? I had a alt account, verified it with my phone, then went back on my main account. There it asked me again for a phone verification but wouldn't allow it because its been used recently. Some people said it took them 2 hours, other say a few days. I don't care at all I just want the damn system fixed with discord. There security is starting to be more like google accounts at this point.

This Sucks! i tried to make an alt account (this is my alt account) so i can be on my server as a member. when i signed in, i got the phone verification, and now, i cant go on either of my accounts! please discord, my server will die without an admin! it has 60 members and almost all are active

I have been using discord for trades in acnh and SO much more! i am the background creator for my irl friend who also uses discord. she does not have any other way of messaging so we use discord. just today discord told me "something is going on... we need you to verify using your phone!". i was confused at first (this is the first time the little demon spawn popped up). and entered my phone number. pressed next and waited for the message. it was 15 minutes and i still haven't found it. so i decided to try again "this phone number has been used for another account" or something is what it said. I thought i was hacked so i searched it up and came across this site. I was so disappointed knowing it has yet to be solved! ALL MY FRICKIN DMS AND TRADES GONE OUT THE WINDOW!!!! Discord is so ignorant....

Today when I woke up I wanted to get my phone in the morning to see what other messages I received on Discord and when I open Discord it tells me:
Something strange happened. I detected that something strange was happening. To continue using Discord, you need to verify your account.
I simply thought I needed to do this to check my phone number. I sent him my code (I had put my phone number) and when I look at the messenger he tells me that this phone number is used. let someone explain to me how to solve this problem because in the email I sent him about this incident he tells me to activate 2 steps even if I had put.
I can't understand what a mistake it is to do this.
One day when I connected to Discord, nothing had happened until this morning when I woke up with something like that.

I have alt accounts but when i try to login an alt account it asks me for pc verification. i give my phone but other alts want too but i cant give my phone number more than once in a day... this is sux.

I'm having this issue now, too. Claimed I needed to verify my phone number -- but I already received SMS messages from that account for 2FA (if the 2FA was lost or something). That all worked fine.
I went to the SMS Authentication section and clicked the "show" button -- but, when doing that, it didn't actually show anything. I could click show/hide over-and-over and no number would appear. But it still sent me SMS messages if I tried logging into that account so it was CLEARLY wired up to it somewhere.
Then I made the mistake of disabling SMS Authentication and trying to attach it to the account again -- now it says it's associated with another account.... in contact with the support team; so far it's been unhelpful. I, too, am a Nitro subscriber so I would expect some quicker assistance on the matter but it's been a few days now and still persisting.

I have the same kind of issue. I downloaded the app a couple of years ago and used my number, then to verify my phone, but because I’ve gotten a new phone and still have the same number, I can not verify this phone with my number because I get the notification that my number is already in use.

I also had the same problem though it is not fixed currently. I was using discord when randomly a "Something's going on" thing popped up, telling me to verify my phone number to continue. The problem was that I do not own a cell phone and that means that I can't continue to use discord. I contacted discord through email, but haven't gotten a response yet, so I had to create a new account. Still can't figure out how to fix this issue.

This has also happened to me I really think they should fix it. a few days just for having the phone number used recently on another account. Should be an hour or so instead of days, "recent" is an understatement for something like this. This blocks users experience and creates a big impact within discord sever owners even for those who own a huge community. For example, if this were to happen to a game creator their community might slowly die because the owner can't contact any staff within the duration. Discord really needs to fix this even if it's the last thing they do.

This also caused me to use days of my nitro subscription which I BOUGHT with real money. If discord won't fix this I'm going to be pissed.

well !GhostlyCor3, if you do not have a phone that you need to verify with, your account is basically screwed. Happened to my old account, and it won't let me use it until I verify my phone which I do not have, so I had to create a new one. Lost a few people in which I could contact with. Reported it to discord, but they didn't do shit about it.
