ERROR "Something's Going on Here"
It has been over 24 hours I have been locked out of my Discord account with this problem. I, of course, created a ticket IMMEDIATELY. I get an immediate response that seems automated that does NOT answer my question or help in the slightest. Upon log-in, my account get's stuck on a screen that says, "Something's Going on Here. We've detected somthing out of the ordinary going on. To continue using Discord, WE WILL NEED YOU TO VERIFY YOUR ACCOUNT." Okay... Sure... I click on the VERIFY BY PHONE link and punch in my phone number. Instead of receiving a verification code, my phone receives a text saying, "An existing Discord account is aready using this number. Please remove it before it can be used with a new account." .... Yes, it is in fact connected to AN account... In fact, it is connected THIS account! This is the ONLY Discord account I use, so WHY am I NOT getting a code sent to MY PHONE!? WHY would Discord NOT have an EMAIL VERIFICATION OPTION!? WHY would they not have an option to figure out what supposed account this number is connected to, so I can remove the number from it? Even though I am pretty sure this number is connected to only this ONE ACCOUNT I am CURRENTLY trying to get into! WHY does NO ONE RESPOND to these TICKETS!? WTF!?

Same to me too, I hade to use a phone to verify but as soon as i remove the number the same thing would come. I recommend you to make a file like discordbackup.txt with all of the servers and usernames of your friends just in case.

I put my phone number in but I CANT RECEIVE THE TEXT..... I have been locked out of my Discord for 5 days. And to be honest, I feel like im going insane.

I verified with a phone number -- finally and was able to get back in. I then attempted to remove my number from Account Settings and was bounced back to the "Something Going on Here." I then attempt to verify again and it throws an exception "The phone number was used recently for a different account." Which is inaccurate since I only have 1 Discord account.
It appears that they're trying to stealth force 2FA and the verification system is beyond broken. This is by far the worst verification process I've ever seen. This is why people choose Slack.

Ive been stuck in this problem for 2 days. and i didnt do anything did i spam? did i advertise or its a troll one huh? ok so i am gonna give up on discord if it doesnt send me a code of verification. :)

Sometimes when you create an account, you might be presented with that screen. I didn't like that feature, but this is used to prevent server raiding. We even have a server (tak's epic hangout) implemented with phone verification (or maybe, it was too difficult)

More than one month ago I got locked out of my account with the same screen.
I never had phone number added nor activated SMS verification.
I contacted Discord Support through my original email, which is verified and makes it clear that I'm the owner. Adding a phone number that was never verified in the 1st place will not verify anything at all.
What I got was mostly bot answers and some that looked like people that didn't care to read what I wrote in the first place (or maybe those were bots too). I also had tickets closed as "solved" without solving the issue nor forwarding to someone else. I kept opening back and contacting other support departments because no one seemed to care. Some tickets were closed without even a reply.I also contacted Discord Privacy for extra information about the phone requirement. No reply.
I then proceed to request the personal data that Discord has on me, per GDPR as I am an european citizen, 1 month has passed. No reply. (This is an obligation of all companies under GDPR and that have business on EU ground)
With all this happening none of us can deny this feels like just a ruse to grab users phone numbers to sell along their username and email.1 -
This just happened to me about an hour ago but I don't have a phone number and I had like 40 friends on discord, I keep getting notifications from the app but can't open it due to this problem. I guess I'll just wait for my parents to wake up to ask if I could use theirs. I wish there was an email option. I hope discord fixes this since this post is from a year ago and it still hasn't improved. I had an old account which this also happened to and this is the second time happening, all I did was friend someone and then the message popped up. I'm not sure why it occurred and when will discord start to pay attention to this problem. I also asked my friends outside discord if i could use their phone number but they haven't answered my text messages yet

Same thing happened to me today actually. Also I put the Phone Number in and got no Notification along the Lines "Verify".

LD , I got the same message when I emailed them (sorta proves just botted answers), I wish Discord allowed email verification at during things because many people don't have phones/phone numbers.

I wanted to DM someone how to access a channel, while the DM was loading in, I got that screen. I clicked on it expecting to have an option to verify using e-mail instead. But no! There wasn’t an option to do that, I tried to contact Discord Support but all I got was a message from this Kimberly saying that she reviewed my account and it had triggered successfully. Come on Discord, i spent half of my own time on Christmas Break on making a server.
Discord is literally losing brain cells right now, they think every member on this platform has a Phone Number. Majority of this platform is only 13-16, which is a pretty young age if you had created a number at that time.If Discord thinks that we can use a family member’s phone, they should atleast understand that some members cannot use the family member’s phone. I can’t use my mother’s phone cause she uses the phone for her work! I don’t know about my father’s phone, but I think I won’t be allowed to use it.
Majority of this platform only has an e-mail. So, if possible, Discord should make an e-mail verification work. Come on Discord, just add it.
I read this comment section and I am sorry to hear that most of you guys lost progress. Such as losing money after buying a Nitro Package, losing a server with 100+ members, that’s awfully sad.
I think Discord should check these once in a while, to check if the members are doing well. Instead of the members looking up to the company itself. Because these people having these serious problems are being ignored completely.

Same for me I was locked out of my account for coping and pasting to my friend in discord and this message appeared up on my phone and I had to verify my phone number and the same message that means nothing

im panicking so much because im encountering this. i tried using someone else's phone number this but idk where to put in the verification code. i bought nitro with it, im having a panic attack.
