Disable/Toggle Hotkeys
Please, please, please, for the love of all that is good and holy add the ability to disable/toggle hotkeys. I keep accidentally pressing the hotkey to begin a voice call when trying to type to people in private messages, and this is VERY ANNOYING because then I panic and have to flail to grab my mouse to stop the call... and then apologize and explain to the person that I did not mean to call them. I'm never going to use any of these hotkeys, ever, and the addition of the ability to turn them off is REALLY needed.

Yeah, totally agree: if you can't make them optional, then remove them altogether.

Let me know when Discord gets its head out of its ***, and at least enables an option to let the user control hotkey implementation.
Until then, I'm done with Discord.

Jesus christ please let me disable starting a call shortcut. I sweat to god I hit it more than I should. And I don't even know what the actual shortcut is. I just know I trigger it every now and then and get a mini panic attack because oh god why.

Max, that only mutes the mic, it doesn't prevent starting a call when you have a DM open, you just can't be heard as you're flailing around trying to disable the call you never wanted to start.
blazerules, only solution I've found was defining the shortcut at the OS level, that preempts the application (I've bound Ctrl-' to /bin/true, a time-honored way to do nothing on unices, on Windows I don't know if that's possible without a third-party application).

Bumping cause these are really annoying to have to deal with. Especially since I use ALT codes all the time when I want to type something in a different language, or use them for emotes.

Let us toggle all shortcuts off! Or disable them one by one!

i cant spell my own name without shortcut keys! every time i try to do it, my name blows open all of the server channel folders open or closed so i have to fuss with them all individually to make them neat again. i cant turn this feature off!!!. its ANNOYING!!!

Hey, i use a voice mod for streaming and I need to be able to use all my key combos without discord changing me to different servers, DM butt dialing, muting myself, and other "hilarious" combos. Thanks

Discord team, that's really NOT FUNNY -- it's been 2 years since the first message in this topic and you still haven't added the option to turn off keybinds. I don't want to have discord appear when I press shift+` in my game.
Why does even discord think that this input is addressed to him? It's in-game input.4 -
Good to know I'm not the only one fed up and disappointed that there has been little concern and response from the Discord team. As careful as I try to be, I end up hitting the hotkey for 'start call in private message' at least once a month due to my fingers accidentally sliding over the laptop keys.
So hey Discord crew, if you can't be bothered to implement a disable option for these hotkeys, can you at least explain why you can't right away? Not that it would help your case at present since this thread started two years ago, but some attention to this would be phenomenal. I'd hate to make shitty assumptions, but this is not a good look for you guys right now. It seems like such a simple detail compared to adding more 'Nitro' Features, Bandwith Boosting, and a fancy new log in page design. Give us something.4 -

Discord please for the love of all that is holy do this. I like to type in long paragraphs when I'm telling a story or something, and I keep accidentally pressing the Ctrl+R keybind because of the way I position my hands. It refreshes the page and wipes out most of what I typed. This is seriously stupid how we can't disable keybinds, you're getting people seriously angry over this feature that is forced.
If you're looking for a way to disable them, try just adding a button in the keybinds tab that disables all of the keybinds, buttons that disable all the keybinds in a group of keybinds (ie disabling navigational keybinds), and a feature to manually disable keybinds. Include the ctrl r keybind in all of this, because I'm tired of having to retype entire paragraphs after I accidentally press the keybind.0 -
PLEASE, bump the priority of this up by about a factor of 50000! I use none of the keybinds and I'm sick of accidentally calling people when I'm trying to use quotation marks!

As of now there are effectively no hotkeys options at all. Being able to change mute mic button is not "Settings".

There needs to be a way to disable these built-in keybinds. I'm literally considering making an autohotkey script to disable them because y'all can't seem to understand how ridiculous it is having MANDATORY keybinds in your application. Especially mandatory keybinds that START A FREAKIN' VOICE CALL.

3+ years worth of comments about this concern and still nothing done about it. But you can add my name to the list where I do have to agree with the ability to disable shortcut combinations within Discord. And to take it a step further, there should be individual toggles for each, or a global toggle to turn them all off, yes some of them are useful. and with them being hard coded and you can't change them, it does create conflicts with other software.

Has Discord become so large that the devs ignore serious issues like this that are on a basic coding level? Disabling keybinds should not be a thing that gets ignored!
If you add keybinds it is obligatory to have them optional. That is just a development standard. And if you're unable to do so - you do NOT add keybinds. Potential of conflict is plainly too damn high.
