Hey, we've all been there. Passwords are supposed to be difficult! Whether it’s time to set up a new password or you forget your old one, this guide will help you with navigating all things password-related.
Password Requirements
When making your password for your Discord account, it must be a minimum of 8 characters. We will not accept passwords that are less than 8 characters.
Be sure to use a secure password that you don't use anywhere else. Longer passwords are usually more secure than passwords with more symbols, numbers, or cases of letters. Using a password manager is a great way to generate, secure, and use strong passwords for each site you log in to.
Depending on your region, additional password requirements may apply.
How to Change Your Password
If you want to change your password and you know your current password, you can reset the password under your User Settings. Let’s go over exactly how.
Desktop/Browser
1. Tap on cogwheel [] next to your Discord username to access your User Settings.
2. Under the My Account tab, tap on Change Password to change your password.
3. Type in your current password and the password you want to change to.

Mobile
1. Tap on your avatar in the bottom right corner.
2. Then tap on the cogwheel [] in the top right corner.
3. Next, tap on Account under Account Settings.
4. Finally, tap on Password and then enter your current password and new password. Tap on Change Password when you’re ready to change it.

How to Reset Your Password
If you have forgotten what you set your password to, you can request to reset your password. Here’s how.
Desktop/Browser
1. Head to the login page in the app or head to http://discord.com/login.
2. After entering the email address tied to your Discord account, tap on Forgot your password?
3. You’ll receive an email to the email address tied to your Discord account with instructions on how to reset your password. Follow the instructions in the email to reset your password.
