Phone number connected to WRONG Account?
When I try to verify my phone number, my phone keeps receiving this text me that APPARENTLY "An existing Discord account is already using this number. Please remove it before it can be used with a new account." Problem is that this is the ONLY ACCOUNT I use, and I cannot think of any other account that would be using this phone number. I need help! How do I figure out what account is linked to this number if I don't even know what the email address or username is that is connected to it? Shouldn't you guys at least txt me the email address of the account that it is connected? How do I figure out what account is connected to this phone number if I canNOT log into the account with just the phone number or get my information texted to my phone number!? PLEASE HELP

i beileve this has nothing to do with if you ever used it or not do it if they say you have you cant do anything about it. i know this from disactivating my account and the phone number not being removed and so it stayed in the list of phone numbers used as so i cant use my phone number ever again unless they do a full wipe of numbers or you have a connection in discord team. support is not the best XD

-I just saw this methos/solution from Reddit, so I decided to share this here1. Login using your phone number
2. Click forgot password
3. Then do what is asked by discord in order to get into the account where your phone number is
4. Once you've logged into the account that you don't even know exists, go to settings, remove the phone number, and delete the account (if you want to delete it)
5. Then log into your main/current discord account, go to settings once again, there you can now verify your account using your phone number

1. Open an incognito browser window
2. Log in to Discord (www.discord.com/login) by entering your phone number instead of your email
3. Click 'Forgot Password'
4. Follow the link in SMS to reset the password
5. Log into the account
6. Go to User Settings > My Account
7. Add an email address then verify the account
8. Click on 'Remove Phone Number'
9. At this point you can also click on 'Delete Account' if you wish to remove this account-1 -

Login with your phone # instead of email, then click forgot password, you should get a code sent to your phone which will help you login to the account associated with the phone #, go to settings and remove the phone #, you might have to add an email address to the account before removing the phone # but this worked for me.

It works!!!!
1. Open an incognito window
2. Put your phone number instead of your email address
3. Click "Forgot Password"
4. Then they will send you the code on your number, put the code
5. Then they will ask you to verify with an email, then put an email that is unused by discord
6. Then you will receive the mail containing the button to verify the discord
7. Get into that account and remove the phone number.
Done!!! You will be able to use the phone number again on another account.1 -

If you are having this issue and disconnected the account from the phone number but it still says it has recently been used, email discord and they will respond within a day, once a real person responds tell them the email of the other account and confirm that you want this phone number removed from this account, hope this helped!

Hello guys I have a solution to this problem what you want to do it first go to your browser look up discord.com/login the you put your phone number in and hit forget password then you will get a message to change it you then change it to something you will remember then after that use the number and password and hit login it will say something strange is happen and what you want to do it his here it by email this is when you will need another email because you can then change the account with your phone number to a different email then after you put in a different email that isn't currently tied to a discord account it will then let you into the account this problem I pretty sure is from a fake discord login pages and it then make a weird alt account put anyway after you log into the account because you have changed the account to your alt email you can then delete the account that will then free your phone number to be used. Hopefully I have explained it well enough if you want to ask me more questions on this my discord is Firerock#2510 and that is how I got my phone number back.

Probblem so when i try connecting my number it doesnt work because someone else is using it how do i reset the number so no one is using it.

The previously posted "solutions" don't work. The problem isn't accessing the discord account, the problem is, however; you're in your already verified account, when you go to account settings to input your mobile number, you chuck it in, and discord sends the confirmation code via the mobile number provided, when you receive this text it says: 'mobile number already in use', even though I don't have another account.
I believe the problem lies in the desktop version vs the app. I've just contacted discord regarding this issue, hopefully, I can post a solution that actually works.

Same issue here. A new discord server I joined requires to verify the phone number and then I get the message it is already used on a different account. No clue what this other account would be, as this is the only account I am aware about using with discord.
Without adding the phonenumber I'm blocked from contributing in this discord server as it has this as a hard requirement. Anyone able to help me out?

Same issue. Went back and forth with 2 dif tech supports from Discord in a thread with over 20 emails by the time I gave up with no resolution. They asked me to do some complicated thing where I would need to create two additional accounts and then somehow trick their server so I could get this fixed. Problem was it was so convoluted I was unable to follow their instruction. Frustrated doesn't begin to explain how I feel about this. This prevents me from joining other servers, which is annoying, but it also means I can't use 2FA with the server I'm in charge of.
This is some of the most amateur bs I've ever encountered. Discord 100% run by clowns that are more than happy to waste our time and put us in danger of being hacked.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Same issue. They need to fix this. If someone proves they have ownership of a number you should remove it from all discord accounts to validate again. Phone carriers often recycle numbers… so obviously this issue is going to happen. This is just poor planning from leadership.

So this Is how I resolved, I tried logging from my telephone number, so I needed to change password, everything went fine until discord said that a problem occurred so It asked me an email for verification, I actually used an unused Gmail I have. And it actually worked, because discord created a new account with the email and phone Number. Meaning that my number wasn't actually connected to a real account...
At this point I removed the number from the new account, and I put the number in the old account I use and It worked0 -

Doing the same thing rn. When discord asks for my other email's password I enter it and it says its incorrect. I CANNOT access discord with any of the procedures given an I've been spending 3 hours trying to fix this, pls help.

Solved my issue using this method, i had to open a different browser rather than the one i'm using, I logged in using my phone number instead of using an Email. They will ask you verify your account via your Email address, you just have to figure out which email you have tied your phone number to. sorry i know... my Englich suck but i hope this will help :)
The only favor i'm asking is to drop a follow on my Twitch account, if you don't mind. stay safe please.

raaronsy's answer from months ago worked for me. What I think happened is that I first used Discord from my phone, so I had an account associated with my phone number. Later, I started using Discord using the desktop app and associated a second account with my email address. So I had one account associated with my phone number (and no email) and a second one associated with my email (and no phone number). I wanted to keep the second account as it had many more Discord servers associated with it. So I logged into Discord via my phone number, clicked forgot email, entered the verification number sent to me phone. That then forced me to associate a second email address (thanks outlook.com) with the old account. Once that was done, I deleted the old account. Then I could associate my phone number with the newer account. Everything in one account .. finally.

I fell for a Niro scam, and changed my password right away. I also Unlinked my number, thinking that was a good idea to be safe, but that was a huge mistake. Now when I try reverifying my number to my account it gives me the message of "This phone number was recently used on a different account". Even though I don't have any other accounts aside from the one I use. Does this mean the scammer has taken my phone number? Also I can NOT find any way to retrieve my number, which I find really frustrating. I have attempted to reset the password for my phone number, but never got the SMS code for the reset. Now I am worried that my number is stuck with this Russian scammer, who has already attempted to log into my account but was stopped by google. I swear, they are always Russian.

I followed the steps and when I went to remove my phone number it asked to send a code to my phone number, I input the code and then it prompted me input my password so I did and it said “This phone number was recently used on a different account”. I swear I’m going to end up pulling all my hair out!!!!

What worked for me was trying to sign in with my phone number then saying forgot passcode. Then disable the existing account with that number.

@raaronsy Thanks! Your help got me closer than I would've ever gotten! The problem now is when I am prompted to enter an email address, I'm told that email address is already registered. I've gotten gentler runarounds by people at the DMV.

but I wanted to leave my testimony of how I was able to solve it in case someone finds it complex, since the steps to follow that Discord offers are somewhat empty of information, and it can that you are in my situation where by the desperation and the anger you do not realize it.1. Open a browser window in incognito mode.
2. Log in to Discord, enter your phone number instead of your email.
3. Click on "I forgot my password".
4. Fill in the boxes with the 6-digit number of the SMS that will be sent to your cell phone to reset your password.
5. Once you have done this you must enter an email (preferably GMAIL) that is not associated with a Discord account so that it is combined with your phone number and you MUST ENTER THE NEW PASSWORD YOU CREATED IN STEP NUMBER 3!!!!!
6. After this you must login to this account you just generated (the email from step 3 and the new password from step 5).
7. Go to User Settings > My Account
8. Click on "Remove phone number".
So far it worked for me and my number was unlinked from everywhere and I was able to put it in my main account as it always should have been, what I could not easily do is log into the account that was left created to do this and could not delete it, but I RECOMMEND CREATING A GMAIL ACCOUNT FOR THE PREVIOUS STEPS MENTIONED ABOVE AND THEN DELETE THE GMAIL ACCOUNT SO IT IS NOT IN THE AIR AND THAT'S IT!!!!You will have your number free to put in your main account and then when you delete the gmail created for this, it will disappear, as well as the discord account created for the recovery of the number.
