Improved Role Management
Ever since I've decided to own a public server, I've noticed that the roles area is fairly cluttered with all of the roles, for me at least. I've made "useless" roles that only serve the purpose of displaying what roles are listed underneath, such as === -AGES- ===, and others similar to that. However, having to scroll all the way to the bottom takes a very long time, as well as having to find specific roles, even though there's a search option. The search option doesn't help much considering I have so many roles and I tend to forget what I'm looking for in the clutter. I know I could easily delete some, but they all serve a purpose, which is why I have this issue and a possible solution.
I feel that a solution to this problem would be adding category areas in the role section of server management. It would help keep the role section compact, easier to follow, and easier to keep up with in the long run. This could be an optional feature that the server owner, admins, etc. are able to turn off/on for their own preferences, kind of like dark/light theme and other mechanics. It could be sort of like creating new tabs, or a dropdown box, or even both and being able to choose one of them, then you could add whatever roles into the categories you want them to be in.
I just personally feel that it would look more clean, modernized, and easier on the eyes. Also, if it were an optional feature that you can turn off/on, then it could appeal to people who would want to use it for any reason, while still pleasing the people who dislike the category feature.
Update: The layout could also be just a solid feature instead of a turn off/on feature. It can simply just be an added (+) symbol near the top to add different categories, then if people don't want to add any they simply don't have to make a category.
Then, possibly for nitro users, they could get the perk option of being able to add custom banners at the top of their categories, and maybe small gifs/custom emojis to the category photos or something. I just wanted to include a perk for nitro users, but I doubt it would be used that much so I'm unsure about this part.

That's your problem. Go fix it yourself. The way I easily find roles is sorting then by a certain emoji. For example, users in my server can select personality roles (such as "Gamer" or "Outgoing"). All roles belonging to a certain category will have an emoji infront of them which is what I look for when scrolling through roles. With that said, if you forget what role you're looking for you should perhaps consider using the Search Roles function and not scroll at all?

Yeah, it is my problem, but I’m sure I’m not the only person with this problem. I have emojis in some roles, but overall emojis are cringe to me so they’re there if they actually look nice. If I forget what I’m looking for, how am I supposed to use the search feature?
The search feature isn’t always an option when messing with roles either, such as quickly giving a person a role. It also doesn’t help for emojis if I’m on a computer.
I have kind of fixed the issue by making those “useless” roles, but I still have a lot of roles and it’s difficult to pay attention and remember things. I have memory issues and sensory issues.
I don’t understand why you’re coming off as hostile when it’s a perfectly reasonable suggestion. And as I mentioned, if people wouldn’t want the feature, they could simply just turn it off if they made it an on/off feature for each person. It would literally just make the entire thing more compact and easier on the eyes, especially for people who get overwhelmed and forgetful like myself, so there’s no reason for you to come off with that tone.

This is a reasonable and very well thought out suggestion, and I strongly believe it should be considered, as a server owner myself I also have a hard time managing all the roles in my servers and feel that this will be an outstanding solution, and after reading some of the other comments I take it into account that there are some other people who do not agree thus I think making it an optional feature, and while there are easy fixes like adding emojis to a certain group of roles, I still think that it’s comes down to how the server owner wants to present their server to their audience.

Now this is very cash money.

Juliaxe Did you even READ the post? How are people going to use the search feature if they forget what they're looking for?
Also what kind of smug selfish narcissistic person says "that's your problem" to a community suggestion lmfao.3 -
Juniper Did you even READ my reply? I have taken OP's post into consideration. This is his problem. He is saying he forgets the role that he is looking for while scrolling, so I suggested that he uses the search feature and not bother scrolling in the first place. Problem solved.

Ask yourself whether you are capable of running a server in a management position if something as little as "too many roles" renders your job as a server owner difficult in the roles department. Introduce your own solutions. I have suggested emojis but you're brushing them off because they don't look nice. Alright, next suggestion is you give each category of roles a select color to easily distinguish between them. If your members need to have a specific username color, give them a member top role that reflects the desired role color and make sure it is above all the other roles that you have just categorized by color.

Juliaxe how is it just "their" problem if it's possible that other people have this problem as well?
and again, HOW ARE PEOPLE GOING TO USE THE SEARCH FEATURE IF THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE FNCK THEY ARE LOOKING FOR? she scrolls because she CAN'T REMEMBER WHAT ROLE SHE'S SPECIFICALLY LOOKING FOR. hope these caps help u understand

Juniper Discord has a role search function for a reason. Don't know what role you're looking for? Scroll slowly, look at each role name at once.
There are plenty of solutions to this problem that do not require discord to add an additional feature. I have already named some self made solutions but it seems those are conveniently being ignored. And because of this, I will conveniently end this discussion here. Good night.

It isn't a mega issue for me and I have it under control for the most part, yet I can't just instantly fix my focus and forgetfulness issues. Like I said multiple times, it's a solution for both people with this issue and to just make it more compact and look nicer/modernized, plus having it be optional to fit the needs of people who dislike the feature. It would also help people with OCD issues to have everything organized into categories or folders. Even if people work around their problems with the current outlay of the roles, I'm sure many would still benefit from the suggested solution.
You're suggesting that since I have a setback with my focus x forgetfulness problems that I should reconsider my position as a server owner when I've been handling the roles perfectly fine, but a way to make it more user friendly for this issue is with this simple yet updated solution to the roles interface.
Many things overwhelm me and I'm able to get around them because I know how to handle my own personal issues, however the suggestion both becomes user friendly for people with problems similar to mine, as well as looking modern and clean for people who just wouldn't prefer the clutter. It's not just a suggestion for myself. I added myself as a person with the issue to express how it can affect others as well (basically an example). The suggestion is a general consideration in general, not just for one person to use.

wow we LOVE a gatekeeping queen
are u really that ignorant? some people aren't able to just "scroll slowly" through each role because they'll forget what they're looking for in general. if they can't remember what they're SPECIFICALLY looking for, then the search feature is useless.
this feature literally let's people have the OPTION to create categories so they don't have to use ugly emojis on every single role they create. it makes the job as a server moderator easier. this forum is meant for suggestions that improve discord, and this suggestion doesn't make YOU do anything so that first rude "go fix it yourself" was SO uneccessary3 -

You are still refusing to take the suggestions that I have provided even though you just said that for other problems that you may be facing in real life, you have come up with your own solutions. Put some of your own solutions to use in this case.
