Priority Speaker is currently only supported for the desktop app!
The mobile app does not work with this feature, you won't be able to hear (or set) Priority Speaker on the mobile app.
Let’s face it, you can get loud & we don’t want y'all having to yell over each other. So we built Priority Speaker! Think of this feature like giving someone the ability to speak at volume 11, when everyone else is turned down to volume 2.
Priority Speaker privileges can be assigned to a role and assigned to users by anyone with a Manage Roles permission. These roles can be given out on either the server level or the channel level.
You need a button
Since Priority Speaker requires you to use Push to Talk, this means you’ll also need to set up a keybind for this feature to activate.
Go into User Settings > Keybind & click on Add a Keybind. Under Action select Push to Talk (Priority) & select a keybind.
Note:
- Priority Speaker only works when using Push to Talk as the input mode.
- Priority Speaker does not work when using Voice Activity.
Let’s get Priority Speakering!
To set up Priority Speaking on your server via a role, navigate to Server Settings > Roles. You’ll want to first set up a role that is deserving of this volume booster.
Enable Priority Speaker which you’ll find hanging out towards the bottom.
Setting up on the channel level
Don’t feel like giving this megaphone to users across all channels? No problemo! You’re able to set this permission on the channel level.
To start, you’re going to want to disable Priority Speaking from Server Settings > Roles.
Now that no one has Priority Speaking, let’s go to Voice Channel Settings > Permissions to the channel you want to give this access to.
Be sure to add a role (or user) you’re trying to grant this permission to.
Note: This is also how you’re able to grant this permission to an individual.
With a role or user selected, turn on Priority Speaker.
Seeing Sound
You’re now set up! Not only will you hear the difference, you’ll see the difference too! We added a visual cue.
