How to Remove a Phone Number

On Discord, phone numbers are used to help with login and verification for anti-abuse purposes. However, there may be situations in which you have to remove and change the phone number under your account. This article will help you remove the phone number under your account.

What this article covers:

Important: Only one number can be connected to an account at a time. Once a number has been removed, there is a waiting period before the number can be used on an account again.

How to Remove a Phone Number

Contact Us: If you’re unable to remove the number from the account yourself, you can reach out to the Discord Support team under the email address associated with the account to have the number removed: dis.gd/contact
Important: If you do not remember the email address associated with the account your phone number is tied to, the Discord Support team will not be able to provide this information, or remove the number.

Desktop/Browser

1. Select the cogwheel [] next to your Discord username to access your User Settings.

2. Under the My Account tab, press Remove to remove your number.

3. You’ll then be prompted to enter your password. Enter your password and then press Remove. 

4. You should no longer see a phone number listed.

Mobile

1. Tap on your avatar in the bottom-right corner.

2. Press the cogwheel [] in the top-right corner to access Settings.

3. Tap Account.

4. Tap the Phone field.

5. Press Remove Phone Number to remove the number.

How to Remove a Phone Number on an Accidental Account

A rare instance can happen in which you accidentally create a Discord account using your phone number instead of attaching it to your account. If you want to remove your phone number from the accidental account, the best way to do so is to log into that account:

1. Open an incognito browser window and head to http://discord.gg/login

2. Enter your phone number instead of an email address at the login screen.

3. Press “Forgot your password?”

4. A SMS code will be sent to your phone number to enter for a password reset.

5. Enter your new password and then press on Change Password.

6. After changing the password, log in through your phone number at discord.com/login. 

7. Select the cogwheel [] next to your Discord username to access your User Settings.

7. Tap Add to add an email address that is not associated with any Discord account, then follow the steps in the verification email you’ll receive.

8.  After confirming the email address, tap on Remove to remove your number.

9. The number will be removed and you can add it to the correct account.
