Update on my case:
tried the support, and provided everything I could... was told its with the service provider and phone my service provider confirmed that nothing is being sent or held from their end, to make me happy they reset my settings too!! I went back to discord with that and was told that my issue will be raised to the technical team to which I responded that I don't mind verifying in any other way if the issue is with the phone.
Just to give credit to one thing: first level support agent was friendly.
Its been 3 days now, I was completely ignored! I didn't have phone verification on in my account before this and I don't know why and based on what discord decided to force verify through phone!
Extra: have the nitro paid for a year!! and other services linked to discord which I have to repay now to link to other more reliable service!

Update 3: After a lifetime from my initial ticket and at least 20 follow ups until their system dropped my complaint.. original account s200200919...
An advice which might be very late for you but not to a friend... dont buy their Nitro subscription...
I had this and btw, only if u r one of the luckiest a real person will deal with it otherwise they will close the ticket with nothing except the time and effort you wasted calling ur provider and doing other stupid stuff they will ask you to do...
Now the advice to not buy the Nitro? its simply because they will not refund your money and will definitely not fix their trash system so ur money is gone for nothing... Yes I requested a refund since I have the phone verification disbaled but their trash system forced it on me, then then they said yes sure u have the right for that, then another automated msg to tell me you've been fooled and we owe u nothing but in a polite/ decent way...
solution to this issue btw, just make another account just dont use this service for anything sensitive as its not reliable!!

Its insane the amount of times i am talking to support and all they do is close my ticket
Just make a new account guys dont bother wasting time replying to ur ticket when the conversation will end in a week and they wont solve anything or fix the problem make a new account

It is getting ridiculous! Has this always been the case? If so, I really hope they deal with a similar situation and nobody gives a damn about their need when time comes, so they end up remembering how shit a company they are for treating people with such disrespect and disregard. I have never been so frustrated and diaappointed with a company as much as this one.
I have done nothing wrong to have been suspected of odd behaviour. I have sat for 12 damned hours trying to contact, looking solutions and even trying 3 different numbers, but no code yet. I have contacted your damned support three times, I have posted on Reddit for solutions, have talked to every person I could to solve this, have waited for any sign of progress, yet nothing. I hope they are proud of their bull, because I am done with Discord if this keeps up, and I assure you I will make it known for other people not to deal with your crappy company anymore if there is no solution, because sooner or later, they may end up where I am at and will have to start over. So, good luck to you, Diss-Cord.

Agreed. It says there is a number using it and telling me to remove it but i dont know how since I have to verify by phone. This is such bullshit.

If you all are making a new account or connecting to an account that isnt your main account, use a different phone number, that of a relative. You probably have already linked your phone number to your main account!

Same here. I tried contacting them and gave them the required info. Waiting for reply. I even tried using two mobile numbers. The verification code is just not coming. Man I hate this.

I just downloaded the desktop app and I got the code when doing it from there.
