Mobile UI is horrible - Cancelled my Nitro

I am a long term Discord user, with an account that I created and have actively used since 2016.

The new UI and theme is not accessible, with the colors and contrast of all new existing themes causing eyestrain and headaches.

The movement of the message area from the top to the bottom is also difficult to use and something I avoid on message based apps. It is not good for those of us who easily have 100 servers, including many we are active in, along with tens of different users we DM actively throughout the day.

Many companies, businesses, and communities use Discord. I would hope Discord would do better to serve those groups. This update does exactly the opposite. I will no longer be recommending Discord to school, work, and personal friend groups.

Please consider at the very least, an option to switch back to the old UI, or at minimum, the old theme.

I canceled my Nitro subscription and am urging others dissatisfied with the update to do the same. I also will not be using Nitro as a Christmas gift option this year.

  I agree with you.

   

  With these updates, Discord looks more like other apps than Discord itself.  It differentiated itself with its icons and its interface.  I think these updates on "graphics" and "mechanics" only lead to discord being worse.  Furthermore, the change of place of messages from top to bottom is horrible, removing the friends page and the search page, I find it confusing, especially for new users.

  I miss the old discord.

  Definitely agree, the new UI is horrific and I want an option to go back to the old one so bad

  agreed. I'm on the verge of canceling too. As a disabled person all the extra hand movements this has added are going to cause me a lot of issues. debating changing platforms altogether.

  I would also like them to please let us access DM's from the server list again on mobile. It's awful to have to hit the bottom of my screen when flipping back and forth between direct messages and server messages. I used to recommend people Discord for projects and personal fun because it was so accessible on mobile, but recently I've been using text instead because of the change of DMS.

  I hate the new UI so much. I don't want to see friends game activity at the top of my DMs. I don't want to use the search function to see who is online (makes no sense) and the whole rounded bubble graphics make it look like a Microsoft Teams dupe.

  Here to support going back to the old UI. Not only does it have a plethora of confusing new ways you're supposed to operate it that makes it clunky, slow, and easy to do something you never intended to, but now it creates an insane disconnect from desktop that makes it awful to transition between the two.

  100% agree. It's pretty clunky now. You can kinda get used to it after a while but switching between DMs and servers and vice versa is definitely more complex than it used to be. The DMs being a separate button also makes them feel weirdly isolated from the rest of the app. And not being able to swipe and see server members is very annoying as well. Just overall very annoying.
