discord beeps without showing where the new activity is
Discord is starting to drive me crazy with all it's unclear beeps.
First off, I have desktop notifications turned off, because there is no way to force them to the second monitor, and I don't want them popping up on top of my primary monitor gaming sessions.
With notifications turned off, it's virtually impossible to tell where the beeps are coming from. My discord had been beeping all this morning without adding any red-numbers to any servers, and I finally got fed up with it and muted all servers.. which is not what I want to do, but I don't have any choice.
So now I have discord with desktop notifications off, and all servers muted.... because the notification system in discord is so broken.
Please
1) Make some notification-history UI page inside the discord app, which will show a history of everything that caused a beep or ding on any server for any reason.. so when it beeps or dings I can go and look in one place and see what the hell caused it, even if it's been a while.
2) Allow me to set desktop notifications to show in ANY corner of ANY monitor, and dismiss after a configurable delay, including NEVER.

@diegzumillo checking the well-hidden inbox does not provide any clarity on where the beep came from. In most instances anyway.

How in the name of Nick Cage is this still a problem? I have to literally switch to my phone to open its Notifications debug log so I can see specifically which Discord server/channel pinged me on my desktop.

Yeah there are work around a to stop the beeps, but we really need a fix to show where the notifications are coming from. Who can ping an admin on this? This thread has been going on way too long without any proper discord involvement.

They don't care about desktop users at all. When you see broken graphics here and 2 pixel wide scroll bars on the desktop app (which doesn't even work properly. I use it on a browser,) you can tell where their priorities are.

At this point, if they are not going to do anything about this problem, Then- It's pretty simple - everyone who came over here and Made this platform the Goto, and the more popular choice, chould now - go somewhere else, let them see for themselves that without us, they are nothing.
How long before they fix this issue, Problably - NEVER. Shame on you- you guys are alll the same, dressed in sheep clothing and later come out as the wofl, because you getting paid.
Maybe What you really need is a Harsh dose of reality, How about , Being Dead broke again? Homeless? and down on your luck, because you should of done something in the first place, But you didnt.
Dont forget , Just as easily as you got up here, you can fall just as hard. But what do you care ?, so long as you keep lining your pockets and making those payments on that Shiny new Bugatti.

This issue is absolutely annoying and insane. I disable notifications for messages, get beeps, and come back to see that there's no traceability - nothing. Why is this an issue years later?

Discord's loading screen says, "We've got your back." If they're lying about that, what else are they lying about?

Oh look how old this thread is. It's pretty shameful that such a critical, annoying issue has persisted for so long.
As I'm typing this I keep getting beeps of unknown origin. It's easy to figure out where they are from, because most of the time it's the last server you joined and didn't mute yet. I wonder why it's so hard to add that notification icon to the server, but hey...

Hey all,
I had the same problem, that's how I ended up here.. Until it suddenly occurred to me that my mic was being enabled upon pressing a certain key.. Therefore, even when I was typing in a different app, i would hear these annoying beeps randomly (whenever I pressed the M-key) hopefully this helps some of you.. check your hotkeys and the sounds that may be linked to their functions..
In the end, I solved it by switching off the PTT notifications.

Discord is the epitome of everything wrong with UI design these days. No labels on icons, turning SQUARE icons into round ones that cut off 25% of the graphics, no meaningful notifications (when you get them at all), no ability to sort things as far I can tell, prompting to switch to different audio devices every time your screen powers off...just on and on and on.

HAhaha no way. I thought I was just a newb with this program. I figured this was by design and as a result i've always just turned discord off. After muted every server I see the annoying sound does seem to go away.

I just got discord today because someone invited me to a discord and not only do I not know how to use discord or what is going on in the discord I was invited to, soI shut the app down but I am still getting beeps. I am a boomer and a noob! Why do you vex me so? Can't you make a boomer-safe version? Or do I have to shout at the clouds!

I'm a cool Boomer grandma who taught my sons how to build computers. I've been using Discord for 2 years now and *I* can't solve this. Presumably, you don't have a lot of channels. If you look on the left side of each channel, you will see a white dot for one message and a white bar if there are more. Click on that to expand it and you might see the new message.

I'm not opposed to six strings but my wife says I can't get a guitarlele until I get bored with my other toys. And for now, I agree with her. I just got a beautiful flame maple Enya tenor (model EUT-E6/BU if you or your husband want to take a peek) I can't stop playing. But we all know, deep down in my heart, I am looking at the guitarleles, biding my time, until the right one shows up.

This issue might have gone unnoticed/ignored for so long people are starting to bond here. We'll be the "discord beep gang" and we will have monthly dinner parties and celebrate each other's accomplishments. Every time someone asks "how did you diverse group of people meet again?" and we'll all say together "Discord beeps without showing where the new activity is!!" and we'll all start laughing and the frame will freeze, then credits will start to roll up to the sound of Walk of Life by Dire Straits.

I'm guessing that there's supposed to be a notification email to their staff when someone posts a comment. I'm also guessing that email now goes into a black hole where it's never checked!
