Customize a set of questions that your server members can answer to be given channels and roles relevant to their answers. Check out these example questions below.
Questions that Assign Channels
For your first question, create something that helps members pick channels in addition to the Default Channels you set up.
- Note: Your most popular channels should be included in Default Channels. You don’t want members to accidentally miss those!
-
Don’t put too many options or members will get overwhelmed. 6 is a good maximum for questions like this.
- Make separate questions for off-topic channels
- You can assign multiple channels/roles in an answer to reduce the number of answers.
- Make questions Required if they assign important channels and you think members should try at least some of them.

Questions for Everything Else
Make questions to help members sign up for notifications, customize their profile, or express themselves.
- If you have a lot of answers, keep it simple and remove descriptions.
- Remember: you can assign roles and channels in the same answer. Consolidate where you can!
- Not all questions need to be answered before a member joins. Uncheck “Ask members before join” for questions that can be answered later. These will appear in a special “Channels & Roles” tab in your server.

What NOT to Do
- DON’T use too many answers if one very long question could be made into two shorter questions
- DON’T put rules inside your onboarding questions. Members will be asked to accept rules after they join.
- DON’T use too much writing in your answer titles and descriptions. The faster members can understand the question, the better their answers will be!
