What this article covers:
Video Upload Quality Settings
Discord allows you to choose the default quality of your video uploads on the Discord mobile app and will automatically compress the videos you upload according to your settings.
1. To find your Video Uploads settings, navigate to your User Settings by selecting your avatar in the lower right corner.
2. Tap Text & Media and scroll to Video Uploads.
3. While there, you can choose amongst the following quality options:
Non-Nitro | Nitro | |
Best Quality Resolution | 720p | 1080p |
Standard Resolution (Default/Recommended) | 480p | 720p |
Data Saver Resolution | 360p | 360p |
Note: These compression settings only apply to video uploads, not images.
Best Quality
Best Quality will compress uploaded videos to the highest resolution available, which is up to 720p (and 1080p for Nitro members).
Standard
Standard is enabled as the default setting for video uploads and recommended for balancing performance and data usage. This will compress uploaded videos to 480p (and up to 720p for Nitro members).
Data Saving Mode
Note: This setting overrides the Video Upload Quality setting.
If Data Saving Mode is enabled, images and videos will be sent in lower quality when your device is using a cellular network to help reduce data usage.
If you are connected to Wi-Fi while this setting is enabled, videos will upload in the quality you have selected for video uploads. When using a cellular network, videos will upload in Data Saver quality and images will upload in 360p.
1. To enable this setting, head over to your User Settings > Text & Media.
2. Scroll to Data Consumption where you will find Data Saving Mode.
3. Toggle Data Saving Mode to enable the setting.
Data Saving Mode overrides the Video Upload setting. For example, if your Video Upload is set to Best Quality (and you are not a Nitro member), your videos will upload in Best Quality (720p) when connected to Wi-Fi, and in Data Saver (360p) when using a cellular network.
