We've detected something out of the ordinary going on. To continue using Discord, we will need you to verify your account.
"A petition for them to remove it". That's literally the message I got when I was using discord And at 3 days ago I had lots of tabs on doing other stuff, And decided to go back to Discord But that was when I had seen that pop-up message. I honestly don't know why discord had added that message, But They should really remove It cause It's frustrating a lot of people.
And again at that time when It happened I had the app and I had gotten a ping and clicked on It and brought me straight into the discord making me bypass the phone verification, But the only problem Is that when I clicked on servers to view messages It wouldn't load and it kept telling me "messages failed to load".
And another good reason why they should remove it is cause some people don't even have phones. And I think It's pretty dumb of Discord for assuming everyone that uses It has a phone. suggestion- They should add an Email verification.
And the thing Is I even contacted them as to why I had gotten that message and for them to remove it, And they said that they're not gonna remove the phone verification. And sometimes the staff would like take a week to reply and at other times they would just ignore you.
And I had to make an alt account and I don't even have my friends tag But I do have my server Invite but it's expired and there's no way for me to make a new one cause I'm locked out of my main account. And here's the feedback - "This feature is really irritating at least add an email verification or remove it completely. There are so many people out there who don't have phones.
And I have like 19 pings already and really want to see where it's from. (I can't even talk to my friends 😭) 
And If you see this message please leave a comment Cause I will reply to you, and I check my emails like 24/7.
And Also I don't even have a phone :(

hi ya'll, this same thing happened to me, and I managed to get my friends and my account back. (thanks discord :D)
soo, how?
1. if you want a chance to get back in, you need a phone number. if you don't have one, ask ur mom or dad for their phone number, so you could enter it in the phone verification thingy, and receive the verification code. After this, it's either you get your account back OR you got disabled from your account. (like when you try to log in it says "Your account has been disabled.", like me.) (note: if you seriously can't get a phone number, skip this step.)
2. Email discord support, they will help you. I know, I know, some of you don't trust them because they reply in a week, and they say they don't help some people?? idk...cuz they helped me big time. Submit a request, tell them the whole story nicely, and they'll reply, trust meh ^-^.
(and btw, you can't do a "petition", to get rid of it. ._.)

this happened to me today and i think that i was hacked but if i wasnt this would still have locked out and i asked for help but they still havent replyed to me cuz discord is prob over somewhere haveing an orgy

It happen to me to :[ yesterday... luckily I had a alt account oh YEAH YEAH but I really think discord should stop this BECAUSE I HAVE no permission to my server on Discord :[

I do not know how to fix this. DISCORD REALY NEEDS TO FIX THIS I MADE A SERVER and this happen AFTER like 2 years THO WHY DOSE IT DO THIS discord are you here or WHAT.

There saying thay hqve added email but i do not see it have updated it and it dosent work i can try using my moms phone number but i did not verifymy moms phone number on there so im scared and dont no what to do i been locked out for 3 months and my freinds at school keep saying text them back so can anyone help.. This is the most asinine thing I've ever seen. One of my family members is locked out due to this. I have a phone number but my family members do not. I reluctantly used my phone number to verify the family member's account and it did the following:
1. Removed the phone number from my own discord account - it can't be added back in until an undetermined amount of time has passed. That sucks. Now I can't post to servers that require a phone verification!
2. Left my family member's account disabled!? It went from needing a text msg verification to disabled?! - with no instructions given to correct.
First of all...how does verifying an account using ANY phone number add ANY amount of account verification whatsoever?! It does not - which is why the account is now disabled. Why is this a thing?!
Second, what the?? How does a company think that every one of their end users has a phone number? They do not.
Third, why does Discord think that account verification through EMAIL is not good enough?!
I'm dumbfounded. Need to find another voice chat client for gaming.

I got locked out the same way today. I have my own phone but it was registered to my last main discord account which got banned a few months ago and they didn't state any reason in the official email. I contacted support after that one got banned and they said they won't restore it because apparently I "Violated TOS", like bruh if I violated TOS, tell me what I did?
Today all of a sudden I get this pop up screen and I panic, I try to use my original number but I can't because it's blacklisted on their database and I can't use it with discord ever again. My mom's phone was beside me so I took it and did the verification and got back my account. Then I go to settings to remove the same number because I don't want it associated with my account, and they ask me for my password, I enter the correct password and OH HEY THE POP UP SCREEN IS BACK AGAIN! I became frustrated but I tried to do the captcha with my mom's same number again, and after I verify and everything I need to enter my password and what does it say? "The same password was used on another account recently"... Wth? Fortunately my mom's phone is dual sim so I did the verif with her other number again and it worked but now I'm to scared to do anything else now because I dont want to go through the hassle of having another account banned for no reason at all? The last one I lost had a lot of data on it, my texts with my friends, my files for submission in school(I'm a student), and I have accumulated a lot of that on this account again and I can't afford to lose it again.... Does someone know why this happens or how to stop it from happening? This is plain harassment of customers who are using your platform... Just bring an email verification? Like please? For the love of god?

I have this issue to this day, it's been a few months so I was going to give up on it so I made a second account, thinking it was a bug since I didn't have a phone. After almost a year of relaxation I forgot it existed... Then boom, it appeared. This time I borrowed a friend's phone, I entered the code sent to my phone, but all that pops up is "Invalid verification code." Now I am lonely and don't know what to do. :C

I fixed this problem with https://tktn.app.link/x08NvZMuzkb, u can use that to get through that STUPID SCREEN, if u don't have a tablet, just use BlueStacks

I just got this "wonderful" blackmail, I mean "feature", as well today. Stripping me off my main communication, unless adding my phone number, which I refuse to do.
Lets see if this practice gets changed any time soon, even though I sadly doubt it.
With the mindset of people giving away their informations all the time, this seems to be the future trend. One I am not willed to be a part in.
But well, there is still some hope left inside me ...

I had this problem just now and i'm freaking out trying to fix it but nothing is working....trying the Google Voice option someone suggested...
Edit: It turns out not even Google Voice will work b/c it's VoIP ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Has anyone been able to re-enter discord after this problem? if so, how? I have entered an active phone number, I waited until I was tired, but the phone verification code never came.

Yeah I can feel the pain.. Cause like I was once scrolling and browsing normally around my Discord, and then that pop-up has been there for 8 hours for me now. I am honestly agitated about this and I hope Discord could fix this.. ;(

it must be hard having all those servers but no access to run em for me i do question of the day in a server im in also i have 20+ notifcations but no way of viewing em so i guess we all are in the same boat rn

Just keep sending emails to discord telling them to remove the feature they will do it if almost everyone does this

same thing happened to me, but this time, i have a phone, not a phone number and my parents will probably not let me get one until years later, its been a week and i already have 240 pings sob </3
