Phone number connected to WRONG Account?

When I try to verify my phone number, my phone keeps receiving this text me that APPARENTLY "An existing Discord account is already using this number. Please remove it before it can be used with a new account." Problem is that this is the ONLY ACCOUNT I use, and I cannot think of any other account that would be using this phone number. I need help! How do I figure out what account is linked to this number if I don't even know what the email address or username is that is connected to it? Shouldn't you guys at least txt me the email address of the account that it is connected? How do I figure out what account is connected to this phone number if I canNOT log into the account with just the phone number or get my information texted to my phone number!? PLEASE HELP

    Hi guys, last update was that my issue would be passed on further up the chain of command. Still haven't heard back. I will update as soon as they get back to me.

    I'm having the same problem I checked my old account but there's no number linked and it won't let me message in any of the servers I'm in without verifying by phone number.

    Help, I have two accounts, both show no phone number associated, but when I try to add phone number all I get is: "An existing Discord account is already using this number"

    I am a nitro subscriber, why am I being treated like this?

    Hi Grant. They normally will get ack to you the following day. So I suggest replying back to them as soon as you get a response. but overall they're quick with their replies once they know what the issue is.

    They just got back to me! That was really fast!!

    Turns out I had a third account I totally forgot about. But by opening a new incognito browser tab and logging in using my phone number instead of a username helped me find the account and I was able to unlink the phone number, then log back into my primary acct. and problem solved!

    I wonder how this even happens. To give them your phone number requires a verification text. I have had this number for over 4 years and only recently joined Discord because my WoW guild use them. I was never asked for a phone number until I tried to join a Discord server that required it.

    The solutions mentioned above about using a new browser and using forget password didn't work as it then wants my email address and password. The only email/password I have is not valid for that phone number. I have checked my other emails for Discord emails and have none except on the one account starting 4 months ago when I first joined.

    I'm in the process of going through their email tech support. We'll see how well that works, but in the mean time a word of advice to other Discord servers, don't require a phone number as your losing users because of a broken Discord system.

    I know how to fix this. Go to discord on your browser, then type in your phone number as your username and use your regular password. Then it's going to ask you to confirm your account by email, and you type in the email you want to send the confirmation to, then go to your email whether it's Gmail, outlook, AOL, etc. Click the verify account bottom, make sure you're a human button, then it'll log you into your regular account. You should be able to verify your phone number from there. Hope this helps.

    Method by raaronsy works. Basically create a fake account with number and remove the number when account is created.

    I recently found out that my number was being used by an email of mine that was never signed up for discord ever. I removed it but as I did it kicked me from the account and no longer allows me to sign in without phone verification, but somehow as I removed the number, it was moved to another account so I'm getting sick and tired of this. How have they not fixed this yet? I'm now getting spammed with random security codes to my number from them for some sort of "ghost" account I can't even access and it's charging me for them.

    Are there any solutions actually posted by Discord Support anywhere?   Same issue with mine.  Some other account exists with my phone number attached to it, and there's no way to get it removed so I can attach the number to my actual Discord server.  Seems pretty ridiculous that Discord isn't able to offer up a solution after so long.

    Same thing has happened to me and I haven’t been able to use discord in over 2 weeks. Discord needs to have a solution for this prob Asap

    I can't believe how ass-backwards this Discord process is.   

    I received an email from their support saying they can't remove a phone number from another account because of privacy and security concerns.   So let me get this right... They can't remove MY phone number from someone else's account even though it's MY number.   I told them to just dial the number, and they'll get me on the other end of the line.  Common sense would pretty much put it to rest at that point.   

    I suppose I can report it to my cell phone carrier as someone hijacking my phone number or some sort of phishing scam.  I suppose that's worth a try. Or I can just look up their head of customer support on LinkedIn and escalate it that way.

    1. Open an incognito browser window
    2. Log in to Discord (www.discord.com/login) by entering your phone number instead of your email
    3. Click 'Forgot Password'
    4. Follow the link in SMS to reset the password
    5. Log into the account
    6. Go to User Settings > My Account
    7. Add an email address then verify the account
    8. Click on 'Remove Phone Number'
    9. At this point you can also click on 'Delete Account' if you wish to remove this account

    I struggled with this for ages. Opened an alternate browser and logged in with phone number. Added e-mail and removed phone number then disabled account. Then was able to add phone number to my other account that I wanted to without issue - nice one!

    This is what discord support says:

    If you receive the Invalid Phone Number message when you are trying to complete your verification, it could be for the following reasons:

    • VOIP, Burner/Prepaid, and Landline numbers can not be used to complete verification. You must use a mobile number to verify.
    • You have not correctly filled out the text entry field. Make sure that you select the correct country code for your number.
    • Have an alt account, or help a friend complete their verification? Your phone has just been registered and is on timeout. Unfortunately we can not lift this, and you will need to wait for the end of the timeout to use the number once more, or use a different number to verify the account.

    My issue is it wants a Phone verification but it sends me the number is on another account but if i go and put my number in the email/number to log in and hit change password and change the password it will send me a code to the same number so i can change the password with the new password i put it into the email/phone log in like i did before the password was changed on the account it wants a phone verification on... so it will send me a code to change my password but not to verify.

    I am able to dis-associate the phone number to the account (the phone number itself). But when I associate the number to my main account, it says:

    Jesus, why so strict on this rule Discord? This is a pain in the butt, Ugh.
