What are nameplates?
Nameplates are unique designs that let you customize how your display name appears on Discord. While Avatar Decorations and Profile Effects let you personalize your profile, Nameplates let you add more flair to your name so it stands out with style in your DMs, group chats, and servers.

How can I purchase a Nameplate?
Desktop/Browser
Accessing the Shop via Shop Tab
You can head over to the Shop to preview and purchase Nameplates.
1. Navigate to your Direct Messages list by selecting the Discord app icon in the upper-left corner.

2. Then, press the Shop tab [] to the right of the server list to enter the Shop!

3. Once directed to the Shop, you can preview and buy Nameplates to add to your collection.

Accessing the Shop via User Settings
1. To access your User Settings, select the cogwheel icon [] in the lower-left corner of the app, then navigate to the Profiles section.

2. Once there, you will see the banner to the Shop where you can select Check it out. You can also select Change Nameplate and select the Shop icon [] to be redirected to the Shop.

3. Once directed to the Shop, you can preview and buy Nameplates to add to your collection.
Mobile
To enter the Shop on mobile, tap your avatar icon in the bottom-right corner, then tap the Shop icon [] to view Nameplates.

How do I apply a Nameplate?
Desktop/Browser
1. On the desktop app or browser, head into your User Settings by selecting the cogwheel [].

2. Once directed to your User Settings, select the Profiles tab to view your profile settings.
3. Then, press the Change Nameplate button to open the Nameplate selection menu.

4. Once you have chosen the Nameplate you would like, select Apply.

5. After applying your selected Nameplate, confirm your profile changes by selecting Save Changes.

Mobile
1. On mobile, tap your avatar icon in the bottom-right corner, then tap Edit Profile.

2. In the Profile settings, scroll down to Nameplate and tap the field to open the Change Nameplates selection menu.
3. Choose a Nameplate and tap Apply.
4. After applying your selected Nameplate, tap Save in the upper-right corner to confirm your changes.

Q: Can everyone see my Nameplate or just me?
A: Everyone can see your Nameplate.
Q: Do Nitro subscribers get discounts on Nameplates?
A: Yes, Nitro subscribers receive discounts on all items in the Shop, including Nameplates.
Q: Are Nameplates available to purchase and edit on mobile?
A: Currently, you can only purchase and edit Nameplates on desktop. However, Nameplates are visible on both desktop and mobile devices.
Q: Can I get a refund for my Nameplate purchase?
A: While Nameplates are generally non-refundable, as stated in our Refund Policy, if you purchased one during our experimental phase (before April 21, 2025), you can submit a refund request to Discord support here by May 5th, 2025. Otherwise, all Nameplate purchases are final and non-refundable.
Q: Can I refund Nitro after buying a Nameplate?
A: No, if you’ve purchased a Nameplate within 5 days of starting or renewing your Nitro subscription, you will not be eligible to refund your Nitro subscription.
Q: Can Nameplates be turned off? I don't want to see them.
A: Nameplates cannot be disabled, but you can go to User Settings > Accessibility > Enable Reduced Motion to minimize Nameplate animations and effects.
Q: I purchased and applied a Nameplate to my profile - but I don’t see it enabled or active?
A: Currently, Nameplates show when you are active on Discord—so make sure you are not in invisible mode or offline.
Q: Is localized pricing available for nameplates?
A: Localized pricing is available for some nameplate purchases and gifts. You should see at checkout whether localized pricing is available. Otherwise, the purchase will default to USD ($). You can learn more about localized pricing here.
