Issues with the new layout, UI and design

Recently, the layout for the mobile version of Discord changed drastically. 

A lot of people found it to be a very big, unnecessary, and, more importantly, messy change to the layout of Discord's mobile version. 

Nobody likes it, at all.

Multiple users at that very same post claimed that Discord didn't need the layout update, as something that isn't broken, doesn't need to be fixed. 

Another user states that Discord is losing its unique personality, for which many users joined this platform, which I completely agree with, as Discord mobile, used to be a good mobile version of Discord, as it was as close to the desktop version as possible, which used a great thing, because of the nature of Discord's distinctive personality.

Another issue with the new updated version of the mobile version of Discord is that it isn't as accessible as might be thought, multiple people argued that that fact is a real issue, and also stated that the newer version of Discord is really uncomfortable to look at, with which I, and many others, wholeheartedly agree.

I even found another whole bunch of feedback posts that should be considered as the opinion of the average user, because it clearly is, and not only the posters said that, but close to every comment on it was agreeing with the statement(s) of the original poster.

The new update has generated more feedback posts within two days than there were in the month before that.  


On Reddit this issue also is being talked about a lot, one of the posts stating the clear flaws of the new layout gained over 350 upvotes within 2 hours, which is not a small amount.

Another Reddit post has people claiming that they will stop using Discord, solely thanks to the current state of the layout.

Other (possibly former) Discord users announced that the new update for the layout makes the app way less usable than what it used to be.

To quote a very important post, showing that change isn't always for the best. 

"We use Discord because it’s different. Not because it’s consistent.
If I wanted to use WhatsApp, or Messenger, or anything else, I’d use those.
Instead, Discord staff have elected to steal this choice away from me. We had a UI that worked perfectly well. It was clear, fast, got the job done, and we’ve all used it for years.
And it’s all being discarded in favor of a UI I can’t opt out of in a style I’m not familiar with that actively makes my user experience significantly worse.
I want Discord on my phone to feel like Discord on my computer. I don’t want it to feel like some garbage I’ve only ever barely touched, and be forced to learn a UI completely different from the UI I already use to interact with Discord on multiple platforms.
As-is, all I can do is hope for a third party mobile client, or give up the mobile version. Years of muscle memory? Trashed. A slick, appealing UI? Gone. No option to revert, because some software company thinks it knows better than I do how I would prefer to use their product.
It’s disrespectful and absurd. This is a facade of progress that’s actively hindering usability for most of the mobile userbase in a major way, and Discord continues to show us that it doesn’t care about the users it has now, only the users it might get tomorrow by stripping away what makes the platform unique and appealing.
I don’t wanna have to do another Skype exodus, man. I want to feel like I’m using a piece of software I can actually trust for the long haul."

And now I haven't even mentioned the most important part of this post, which is the fact that the stress, many people with and without other issues, like, for example, autism and kinds of anxiety, will experience and/or have experienced and/or are experiencing, is very stressful. Discord is a place where many of the people with issues feel safe, with people they know and to whom they can relatively easily talk. The changing of the entire layout and user interface is something that is making a lot of people, with or without, mental issues, get in a bad place, even if they weren't before.

Please don't take this lightly, as this is something truly important for the wellbeing of many people, including myself, and the changes being permanent would only bring more negativity in an already bad world, and this would result only in pain, at both the company's and the users' side.

My apologies to the people having to deal with this issue, but it is very important, and should be changed for the sake of both the user and the company.
